For those of you who heard and enjoyed the stories about my Aunt Min, I am very sad to report that she passed away in her sleep at 3 am this morning, following an illness that began on New Year's Eve.

My Aunt Min was a remarkable woman and I thank the Gods that I was priviliged enough not only have had her in my life and in my upbringing, but to have her blood running through my veins. She lived life joyously and without fear. She was the scandal of her home town (Jersey City, NJ) for many years and on many occasions, the most notable of which were her red ankle strap shoes in the 1920s, her throwing out and subsequent divorce of an abusive gambler in the early 30s, her remarriage to the love of her life (my Uncle Rudy, who passed six years ago - they were married almost 60 years), her deep friendship with a woman who owned and ran a bar in the 1940s, and her absolute insistance that being a woman had nothing to do with "behavior" and everything to do with attitude.

Aunt Min was 97 when she passed. She will be missed.

If anyone would like to get in touch with me, I ask that you please use the address [email protected]

Thank you.

Oh, Dawn, I'm so sorry. She sounds like a wonderful woman. You have my sympathies.

*hugs*
I never had the honour of meeting Aunt Min in the flesh, but Aunt Min stories are one of the reasons I've never given up being myself, even when I thought I was totally insane. I hope that one day I may be one-tenth the woman she was.

Why is the sky so blue today? Aunt Min must be teaching the angels a few new phrases... Heaven may never be the same, but it will be MUCH more fun with her in it.

Aunt Min, keep the G&T's cold, the beds warm, and the knickers tiny, and we'll see you when we see you.

Dawn:
Please add my sympathies to the ones already given. Although I don't know you or Aunt Min, she sounds like she would have been alot of fun to hang out with. She definately fits the description we aspire to.....
