View Full Version : Pirate Food

My son is going to have a pirate 3 1/2 birthday party this summer and I'm trying to figure out what to serve. I have a good list of snack-ish stuff to eat but I'm at a loss as what to serve as a meal. I'm open to any idea. I need some kid-friendly foods, adult-friendly foods and some veg-friendly foods.

If you're going for a true pirate theme I'd recommend salt pork and hardtack.

If you're going to show a pirate movie at the party, just make sure it isn't this one:

Don't forget limes. Don't want to send home the wee ones with scurvy...

You could always serve limeade for the drinks. (Ducks before her boys hear her suggesting that.)

Betty Crocker has good theme parties and usually one can't go wrong with just renaming finger foods

Unless, there are allergies serve nut mixes, and dried fruit too. That went over well at the Pirate Party we threw. (That was adults only) We had beef stew, biscotti (our version of hard tack), jerky in jars around the house, lime drinks, and wedges of limes in bowls around the house. Lime jello if you aren't sold on the limeade. (Keep your jello away from the kids.)

What is the rhyme for rum punch
1 sour
2 sweet
3 something
4 ice?

how about (and you can do little signs with pics on them in front of the plates)

walk the plank chick planks (strips) with blue ranch for water (go go food color)
pirate ale (rootbeer in bottles)
boat eggs (deviled eggs with toothpick sails)
scurvy dawgs (hot dogs with that freaky green ketchup)
sea biscuits and bits (the mini hotdogs in the rolls i cant remember the tini weenie technical name)\
ummmm yeah thats all i can pull off im sorry.
