So, SM and I are looking ahead to the fall. I, personally, want to go to PARF again, but she's wanting to go someplace closer. It took a little over 9 hours to get to PARF... Yahoo estimates a tad over 4 hours to get to Tux.
Anyway... If we'd go, it'd likely be around Labor Day Weekend. I know a lot of people live in that neck of the woods, but I also know a lot of you could be at PARF that weekend.
So... um... who'd be at Tux Labor Day weekend, and are there any recommendations as to a good hotel (one that won't pass off large bricks as beds, like the Super 8 we just stayed at in Phoenix) that won't cost a mint?

Labor Day at Tux is the BEST!!! Black Monday!
It's a weekend that is not missed by the Tux regulars. Also a popular invasion weekend. I'm sooo jazzed that you guys are comin'! I live about 40 mins from the site and worked about 20 mins away so I'm familar with the area if you had any questions or anything...

Hey,
I missed you folks when you came out to Parf last year, maybe I'll see you at Tux this year. For hotels, you would probably want to check out the Courtyard Marriott in Mahwah. The price is usually around 79/night or so and is pretty comfy. There is also a Sheraton that is around 109/night, but the service there leaves a lot to be desired. There is also a passable HoJo's right next to the Marriott. It's a little cheaper, and a lot older. Not bad, but depending on your budget, not wonderful.
Mahwah is about 15 minutes away in the morning (and up to 25 minutes away at night, traffic is odd there) from site and it's a reasonable drive with a couple of gas station/convenience store/Dunkin Donuts' along the way.

I know Crimson and I are planning on being at Tux for Laborday weekend. We were thinking of going back to the hotel we stayed at last year, the DoubleTree in Mahwah. That is if they run the special Faire price again. I know we were extremely happy with the service there.

I was also going to suggest the Doubletree. The HoJo actually is a good location, I just wish it was a better hotel. There's a big shopping area right behind it where you can find everything you might need. A CVS, a deli (Lotitos makes some great sandwiches), a fabric store, a supermarket, a TJ Max, a Bed Bath and Beyond, a Borders and a bunch of other stuff... And I believe it is in Ramsey. So, look around for hotels in Mahwah and Ramsey. The other hotels that Jay and Jayde (cute!) mentioned are also pretty close to this "mall".

Oh... Jay said Sheraton. We stayed at a Sheraton in Edison, NJ, on our way here to Maine. Their beds are SOOO awesome. I wanted to take that bed home with me.
Jayde... Assuming you and yours and me and mine all agree to storm Tux on Labor Day Weekend... you up for a caravan? Though, we'd likely slow you down, what with an 11 and 10 year old boy and 5 year old girl riding with us. (This makes me wonder what other NER members might go.)
Fabric store? Near a hotel. Dangerous. I'm always looking at fabrics for doublets, kilts, and Jacobite shirts.

That'd be the Doubletree. I once stopped there on my way home from work during a massive PMS moment just to get a cookie. lol
