Has anyone else been having problems getting responses from the IWG leaders? I've been trying to get an answer as to the status of my order (my guild pin, certificate, etc) and have not recieved an answer. I submitted it once 2 weeks ago and another one at the beginning of this week. It said that someone would be with me in the next few days and I haven't heard anything. I submitted my order number and everything.

Lars has always been incredibly busy. when did you submit your order for the membership? It generally takes 4-6 weeks, longer if it's in pre-faire / faire / post-faire timeframes... about half the year actually. He's also working with our Lovely Webmistress to set up the Guilds Database, so I'm sure that's taking some time as well.
Just have a smidge bit more patience. If your order hasn't had six weeks pass, then give it that time for him to get it to you (Remember, it's just him in the shop filling these orders, he doesn't have a whole staff of people). if it's been more than six weeks, give him a chance to get to the emails. If that fails, PM Ysobelle for contact information or PM the webmistress here for some help.

I ordered it in Jan. Its been longer than 6 weeks, hence why I was curious.
I will wait a little longer. I guess I'm just overly anxious to get my materials.

Oh I understand. I was impatient to get mine too.
I'd say give it another week or two, then get with Snipe (webmistress) and talk with her. Since she's helping Lars with the guild database, she'd have more insight.

I ordered my Rogue membership In janury and it took nearly 8 weeks due to the fact that Lars is trying to catch up after The faire season. Belive me he is very busy and will get it out as soon as he can. Each Year There is more and more people joining. Now till he does get it out to you can enjoy the anticipation of it arriving and getting your hands on the book.
Now I will have to look into ordering my Merc Membership and my The Renaissance Festival Veterans Administration Membership.

Nope. Mine took 8 months but, I didn't really worry.
I was more interested in the people than the pin.

Six to eight weeks, yeah, be patient. Seven months, write again.

I didn't get my package until nearly 8 months after I ordered it. Sometimes because he works alone, his orders can get a bit messed up and mine was just placed in the wrong pile. Or something like that. Also, September was right in the middle of faire. With all the orders coming in at faire and through the web, Lars can get overwhelmed. I would just drop Lars a quick email if you have been waiting that long, Kathryn. I'm sure he'll take care of it for you once he knows.
UnicornBee, 6-8 weeks, on the other hand, it is not so bad of a wait. You will get your package.... and while you wait -- you're still a wench. The pin is merely icing on the cake. ;-)

Okie dokie.
I just feel bad asking about things sometimes. I feel like I'm being nosy or a bother and I don't want to be a bother to anyone.

A lot of the delays are due to the fact that the IWG books are being updated. He's had to go through every page multiple times to make corrections. I think he's almost done, but this was a big update, so it took a long time. He didn't want to order more Little Brown Books, since he has to buy a lot of them, and for them to be the same, outdated books (and to have hundreds of them) didn't make sense to him. The book hadn't been updated in years, so he's spent a ton of time getting it up to date.
If it's been several months and you haven't heard anything, e-mail him. He will probably tell you he's just waiting on books, but just in case he never got the order, it's better to ask and make sure. We have had a few people complain about not getting their orders - and we have NO record of their order anywhere. It doesn't happen often, but its better that we make sure that you're in the processing queue to be sure.
The new ordering system allows people to opt to download the IWG book instead of having one sent. I know a lot of people will want to have it sent, but for those that don't care about having it in the fancy little book and just want the info, this is one way to speed up orders. I'm also talking to Lars about possibly using Cafepress for books (for IWG, IBRSC, etc) because it will mean that he won't have to shell out hundreds of dollars in advance (and take up half the office with books). It sounds like that's an avenue he may be willing to go down for the next round of books - not this one though.

Exactly!
And please do email him if you're concerned. We have had people that waited a YEAR before emailing, and once a year goes by, it's much harder for us to track an order, find credit card reciepts. etc. With the new ordering system, all orders made online are processed immediately, and the record of the order will be in Google Checkout or PayPal, so we always have access to it. With the old system, he was running cards manually (literally, using his merchant terminal), so once a year has passed, he's got to dig through piles of paperwork to figure out if a card has even been charged.
The new system is making things better and easier for him, but it won't bother him if you drop a note and ask him for a status update. Don't wait a year, or it makes it harder for us to track it down. If 3 months have passed, drop a note. As long as you're not a jerk about it (and some people are, unfortunately), he doesn't mind looking up the info. It prevents problems down the line if you communicate sooner rather than later.

Fortunately, those don't have complicated books like the IWG does, so those orders tend to be processed much faster :)

I don't see why not. :) I was trying to get Lars to do the Cafepress option for this last round of updates, but being resistant to change, I think he may go with his normal printer for this last time. Once we have the new books in, I'll add it to the online catalog and post on the forums to let people know they can buy it.
Ideally, now that the whole guild database system is underway, I'd like to make a copy available online to existing members ONLY, via their guild login. The only problem is that it will be easier for people to send it on to people who are not guild members, which is something we don't really want.
Nah, I want that puppy in my hot little hands.

Perhaps if it is a PDF that isn't such a bad thing... the sending it to non members, maybe it'll make them want to join our little group even more. It isn't the pin or a number or even a membership but a book of info. Maybe a trimmed down online version?

Hehe, I figured that would be the reaction from some people.
I just started a discussion about that here (http://www.wench.org/forums/showthread.php?t=17052). Please lend your thoughts.

Yes, it is :) If you're going to make changes, please get them to us by Friday. (I know that's short notice, but we didn't know you needed to update it... LOL) If you have any images you'd like to use as well, we do have a little room.
If you can't get them done by Friday, no worries - this newest printing is realyl for corrections, not as much updates, so we can always get the new info next time.

Oh, gah! I sure can, snooks, but can you send me what's in there now? I have NO IDEA where my LBB is, and if you wait til I search my apartment for it, we'll still be waiting by next update.
Getting it back by Friday? Not a problem.

Has there been any updates? I have tried emailing Sir Lars, but he has not responded. He must be really busy. I heard from him on March and he said that my order should be out in 2 weeks time. Still nothing :unamused: I hvae again tried emailing him, but nothing. I am hoping one of you good ladies (and men) might know something I do not.

I heard that he's been around. Try giving a call, or send another e-mail reminder. I think a few people have packages on the way, or so I heard. ;)

Try to email or call him again.

I know he's been sending out packets consistently - I've seen them going out the door - but I have no idea to whom they were going. I don't usually get involved with that bit. I do know that a few that were ready to go out have been delayed because people haven't gotten back to him regarding their faire nicknames. He was ready to ship them out and realized he was still missing info - so it wouldn't hurt to email him and just confirm that you're not one of those people :)

I understand where your coming from.
We bought our Pirate and Merc pins last year at TUX the week after Labor Day. We got our packets about 1 month ago. I bought my son's Rogue pin 2006 opening day at TUX and he still hasn't recieved his papers or his Rogue book. AND if there are books that go with the Merc and Pivateer wee didn't get them either. I figure I'll just talk to Lar's this season if I see him. TUX is getting ready to open so he's very busy again. I don't think he ever as any down time.
There was talk about putting the books up on Cafe Press, but I never saw anything else about it.

Joe and I join about three years ago at Tuxs and we still haven't received any of our stuff. I emailed and called many times. I just gave up and waiting for you to put the books and stuff on cafepress- and i was just going to order our stuff from there. I'm going to wait on joining another guild till things settle down for lars.

I noticed Sir Lunde changed the die cast of the pin. Mine actually says Magnus instead of Magus. But I am so happy to have it now. There is just something about having the physical pin and license saying you are a wench.
See you tomorrow Local 77!
