Does anyone know anything about the Carolina Ren Fest or any faires in surrounding states? We're moving to NC this year from Texas. Yes, I'm going to miss TRF. but I'm looking forward to new adventures at different faires.
Thanks in advance for any and all information,
aka Paige

Actually, the Carolina Ren Faire started last weekend and will run for 7 weekends. There is a GREAT wench and rogue guild in the area (I have just joined and they have all made me feel VERY welcome). Welcome to the family!!!! :smooch: :hi:

First, Syndony:

Moving to NC means you have not only Carolina Ren Faire (Charlotte metro area) http://www.royalfaires.com/CAROLINA/crf_main.htm for 7 weeks in the fall, but it also means you have North Carolina Ren Faire
http://www.ncrenfaire.com/ (Raleigh area) for two weekends in the spring.

In addition, depending upon where in NC you are moving to, Georgia Ren Faire (GARF) http://www.garenfest.com/ is a reasonable drive for a great weekend. There is also a smaller faire in Asheville, NC every year (two weekends, I believe) and another smaller, two weekend faire towards the coast in the early summer.

That doesn't even begin to mention Virginia or, of course, Maryland, again, depending upon where you are moving to and how long you are willing to drive.

Next, Ambar:

I'm sorry I didn't get to spend any time with you on Saturday! Please, we have to correct that the next time you come to faire. Please, please, please drop me a line when you know when you're coming so we can connect!

Welcome to our ranks, Syndony! And just so you can surf a little more, the faire Beatriz mentioned in Asheville is the Mountain Renaissance Faire, http://www.rennfaire.org/ , usually held in May of each year.

Fair winds!

Thank you ladies for the information. We'll be in the Raliegh area. And since we're from Texas where everything is bigger (that's what they claim, at least) distances aren't much of a problem. We've been known to drive 2 hours for dinner, 4 hours one way for a day trip.
I'll have to look up the local chapter. At least start posting so I'll know who to contact once I get to our destination.
Thanks again,
Syndony :D :lick: (finally an emoticon that can lick its nose! like me! my one claim to fame)

Don't you know Texas has 2 seasons: hot and hotter. Even though we did get an ice storm this past February that shut Austin down. I will not miss the heat when I move out of Texas. Actually the past 2 summers have been tolerable, just a few days in the triple digits. I've been to TRF in the cold and rain and when it was warm but I've also seen some perfect days there.
Enough of this, I need to go pack.
