Maybe some of you ladies with experience can help me. My problem is I can't seem to get the Magic Shell to harden. Is it that I'm not using the ice long enough? Is it that I'm not shaking the bottle hard enough? Any advice would be helpful!

You do need to shake the bottle very well beforehand.

The other thing we found works well is if you don't make the coating too thick -- a thin layer hardens up best.

Let me ask you this first...are you using it on ice cream?

I'm thinking it's a different kind of...dessert.

You are correct! I don't think I would be having this problem if it were on ice cream.
Could it also be that I'm not icing the area long enough?

Yeah, but remember-- icing it too long is going to make you frostbitey in verrry uncomfy places. I'd go with using a thinner coating. (Am I the only one who can't get Duran Duran's "Girls On Film" video out of her head?)

Have you tried honey dust?

I gotta vote to axe the magic shell and just use good old syrup or edible body paint if it's a chocolate taste your after.....

Your "stuff" has got to be MIGHTY cold (try frozen) for Magic Shell to harden....

Thanks for all the good advice! We do have honey dust by the bedside, but I wanted to try something a little different.
I was also afraid of making a big mess with the Magic Shell, with it driopping all over the place, you know?

chocolate IS a PITA to get out of bedding.... there's still some on one of my pillow cases 7+ years and many MANY washes after the fact...

but i bet oxy-clean would take it RIGHT out :oooh: so don't let it hold you back...

luck!
