Um, did I miss something?
Is this just a general concern, or was something said that prompted this?

I posted this due to numerous items I have heard either first hand or passed down.

As I said, I will NOT go into detail as to protect all concerned.

I only posted to have people get a better perspective of what this election is for.

I've never been active in politics and this is my first active move.
To be honest, it's a bit daunting.

I just don't want to see people bring out their "bad sides" and have words spoken or actions taken that can not be later taken back.

Honestly, I'm on the fence about locking this thread. I understand why it was made, but it seems that it's making a bigger deal out of the elections than was intended.

For now, I'll leave it alone and see where it goes.

Pansy, it's regarding the local Elections, not the Washington elections. LOL

just checking...

and I would agree, in part...

No, this isn't a popularity contest, ideally candidates should be judged on merit. However, past events by individuals can be reasonable indicators of future behavior (in general, circumstances not withstanding) so I do think that it is reasonable to take past actions and events into consideration when deciding whom to vote for in this election. Now of course without know specifically what you are referring to (and no, I really do not want to know) that may or may not be applicable in this case.

Regardless, I think that at least thus far, the elections seem to be running along smoothly with no ruffled feathers that I am aware of. If there is something going on that you strongly feel will impact the guild and the local, then I would definitely suggest you contact the Local Madame to voice your specific concerns. The public forum is definitely NOT the place for specifics, but after all, that is part of what the local governance is for.

On another note, we are looking to have Local members post questions for the candidates to answer so that we all might get a bit more info on particular issues outside of the posted platforms. I hope that both the questions and all the responses will be crossposted here and on the Yahoo group.
