Pins and Suede Bodices

Not sure which forum this is suited for but it's garb related...

I wear more suede bodices than anything (Yeah Pendragon!) I get tired of always switching pins from bodices and just having a hard time with the suede and pins in general. I've seen a few people with strips of material, leather, suede (don't really know) with all their pins on it.

I would love to make something like this but don't know what the best material is to use, any suggestions? I'm also wondering how to pin, hook etc it to my bodice.

I was looking at suede squares that I thought would work but thought that may be too heavy. So any suggestions and/or tips would be great.

I have 4 suede Pendragons and nothing will penetrate them :lol: -I made a reversible sash out of corduroy (wrong side out). It has a loop that fits over my belt and I attach all my favors/pins to it...I've had to keep making it longer...I saw someone who had small grommets in the strap area put on their suede bodice to wear their IWG pin. I just wear mine in the laces of my bodice and smaller pins and favors on my chemise ruffles and shoulder. Try the sash, its fun!

That's what I was wanting was something for my belt. Sounds perfect, thanks for the help :) I've tried pinning things to my chemise ruffle but I've almost lost a couple in the washing machine, so I think this will work much better.

Well that means another trip to Wal-Mart tomorrow....went tonight and bought 10 more yards of $1.00 fabric ;) :twisted:

We call 'em favour sashes, since mostly what gets pinned to them are favours. My Guild pins were pretty much all I'd wear directly ON my bodice-- everything else went on the sash. Mine was leather, and looped over my belt. It wasn't huge, and I was about to need another, but it's moot now. What I'd started to do, though, was take everything off and start over again each season, since so many people gave me pins and buttons and such.

Well, now I'll REALLY have to start over, won't I? Not that I'm bitter!

MisRed, the wench in the middle (in the red dress) is sporting her lovely, hand-crafted favor sash. She made hers for a towel (because your NEVER leave home without your towel!) and accented it with a piece of black fabric and some snazzy trim. :)

Put some belt loops on the back... voila. Instant pin sash. :)
