Subject: CORSAIRS - Don't miss the end!
Dear friends and fans,
The Corsairs have decided that 13 years is long enough for a 1 season bit to run. We are finally calling it a day.
This weekend (May 17 & 18) will be our next-to-last weekend, and all our merchandise is sale-priced. You can find us at Scarborough Faire, on the Crown Stage at 10:30, Noon, 2:30, and 4:30.
Next weekend (plus Memorial Day) will be our finale. There are only 20 Corsairs shows remaining. Ever!
Thank you for your kind attention. Please pass this note along to anyone you know who might be interested. I lost the e-mail list (with several hundred addresses) in the Great Hard Drive Crash of '07, and there are now only about a dozen people getting this message. Please don't chastise me for losing the backup as well, just let your friends know that they need to re-sub in order to get the obituary.

Fortunately I have been able to catch part of their shows at Scarby. I wil greatly miss their talent and the fun they brought to their performances. Already told the Rogue I want a couple more of their CD's this weekend!

On the occasion of my first visit to Scarby in 2000 - I was strolling alone along one of the lanes when a cute little pocket pirate came up behind me slid his arm in mine and said, "you look like a lady who needs a tour guide and personal shopper." I was a little surprised, but he explained he had seen me at the morning performers meeting and said I looked like I was "fun." We had a great time shopping and in no time at all I felt I'd known Captain Morgan for a long time. I finally figured out who he reminded me of - a long-time friend of mine - so when he said he's was the shortest member of the Corsairs I chimed in, "and the gayest?" He howled and said, "of course! And here I was acting so butch." I said, "oh honey - in college I was known as the 'fairy godmother' I have better gaydar than Liberace.
Thus started a great friendship. Every time I've gone to Scarby I've looked up my dear Capt. Morgan (aka Scott). I got acquainted with his partner and learned Scott is one smart little gay blade. He's got at least one Ph.D. and he loves to sing. He's performed not only with the Corsairs, but also with the Men's Chorus in the Dallas-Ft. Worth.
I'm sad the Corsairs are disbanding, but as a performer myself - I know how difficult it is to keep a group together for years on end AND keep the show fresh and good. And I know how "real life" has a way of taking precedence at a certain point. I will miss seeing them on future visits to Scarby and attending their show.
I hope I'll be able to stay in touch with Scott even after the group is gone.

I made a point of catching one of their shows on Saturday after I'd read about their upcoming retirement. Since I am a relative newb & have less than one year under my belt, I'd not seen them before. They were wonderful and, although I am sorry that I will not be seeing them again in the future, I was and am thoroughly delighted w/their performance. God go with wherever they may roam.

I couldn't agree with you more.
They've had a good, long run, even including their hiatus. They will be missed, but their music and harmonies will forever stay in my collection of favorites.
