For a *really* good period read, try "The Other Boelyn Girl". (did I spell that name right......argh....)
It's a fictional life story by Mary B. I loved it.
Two really excellent fantasy series are the "Rapsody" books by Elizabeth Haydon, and "The Wayfarer's Redemption" by Sara Douglass
(word to the wise...don't try to read them simultaneously....)
*so GOOOOOOD!*

I got completely addicted to the Rhapsody Series soon after it came out! I loved her as a strong female character in a fantasy series who wasnt' perfect because they so often are, and that's just boring. But I think I adored Achmed and Grunthor even more. They were such a fabulous pair and Achmed, for a lot of the time is what my roommate and I like to call, a glorious asshole. :irked: The whole thing with the guy and the time editing machine is odd. I think it detracts from the rest of the story but, besdies that, I love them massively. I just ordered the paperback of the fourth book last week. Pity it won't be here until May. Urgh, hate waiting on books!!!! :augh:

Definitely - Thr Rhapsody books were awesome ! She kicked butt - I could really identify with alot of her thoughts and feelings - so it felt like I became part of the book as opposed to just a reader of it !
