Hey all, thinking about venturing down to Georgia faire the week of May 2-9. I have a timeshare that I'm planning on trading and staying for the week. Any suggestions for a semi-seasoned faire traveller? What's not to miss at GRF? Thanks in advance....

Nikki - I bought my tickets on AirTran - not even $200 roundtrip from Baltimore - leaving on that Friday and coming back that Tuesday. Hoping this info is helpful cuz YOU GOTTA MAKE IT TO INVASION! Just wouldn't be the same without you!

I know hotel arrangements are being set up at both the Red Roof Inn and at the Comfort Inn - directly across from where we did the invasion dinner last year at Spinners. Plenty of people to share with, if you wanna do that.

My dear friends down in Atlanta said they're going to split the ticket with me to fly down Memorial Day Weekend. I swear, I'm so blessed to have friends like these-- they've been there for me though so much! And they're such fun!

So I only now have to find out what's up with my job, and if I can get the time off. Wish me luck!

I remember the day we met. I was fully prepared to hate you on sight (especially after John told me what you looked like). Within 15 minutes, it was "John, who?"

We ate Mexican food later that night, drank margaritas, and I was called a Babe for the very first time of my life.

Last year, you convinced me to attend GARF when I planned on staying home and hiding. Even though we did not spend much time at faire together, I had am AMAZING time Saturday night with you.

I understand the desire to see new faires, do new stuff and unfortunately time and money, no matter how much you have of each, still have limits.

What I'm trying to say is I am SO gonna miss you. Maybe I should stitch W.W.B.D? on the hems of my skirts instead of just wearing the bracelet? It looks like I will be coming to GARF with my hubby and son as well as our GA friends for Memorial Day Weekend. My hubby said he would hang out with my son solo for a bit so that I could have a drink with some fun Wenches and Rogues! (He's so wonderful!) It'll be cool to meet *y'all*. What is the best day to attend? Saturday or Sunday? ( We have to drive backl on Mon. and one day is enough for my son. Little rogue, velvet tights and all, but he is only *8*. :) )
We aren't sure if we will be staying with our friends or not. Does anyone have an accommodation recommendation? (Wow! Check the long words! hee-hee) Also, does anyone know what day the dinner is on? I am assuming that it is a child-free event.

The Comfort Inn or the Red Roof Inn--I believe both are listed on the website. The Comfort Inn sometimes costs a few dollars more, but in my opinion is worth is. If you call for reservations and have a AAA membership, I think that the AAA rate is cheaper than the "ren faire" rate.

Dinner is Saturday night. I have no idea where.

Invasion dinner is on Saturday night - place still to be determined. Kid friendly, from what I have seen in the past. After dinner, the *adults* (I use that term lightly! ;) ) that want to, are going to meet across the street from the 2 hotels at *Spinners* - drinking, dancing, munchie-foods.

Hotels - Comfort Inn and Red Roof Inn. Red Roof Inn is less expensive (about $50 a night, I think). That's the hotel I stayed in last year (and where I'm staying this year), and it was *okay*, but I know others had some problems and they are staying at the Comfort Inn this time around. They are on the same street, and both are in walking distance to *Spinners*.

As for your getting your pin before Memorial Day, I wouldn't really know. I realize that Lars is very busy, but I don't know if he has others who work on these for him when he can't get to them. Think about it like this - something to look forward to that will arrive when you least expect it! *LOL*

I found 2 for one tickets to GARF,

One catch is you have to be a 99X freeloader (99X is an Atlanta rock radio station) and have your card at the gate. It's easy to get it but it takes some time I think, because they mail it to you. I think they might do a temporary card when you sign up, something you print when you sign up.

Go to http://www.99x.com and click on freeloaders, and from there find the signup page. sign up and they will send you your card. Don't rember how long it took for my card to get here, but hey it's worth a try anyways
