View Full Version : OZ....anyone watch?
So...I got roped into watching OZ about 2 seasons ago because a co-worker who is completely sympathetic to the plight/treatment of prisoners watched it and being on the opposite side of that coin in discussions with her...I decided to watch an episode to see her perspective....however well I could do that from a TV show...
Well, I got hooked on it, wanting to know what would happen next kinda like watching a soap opera, only with mostly men and a whole lot of sodomy....lol
Anyway.....I am EXTREMELY disappointed by the series finale that aired last night. It left a lot of open ended story lines and just didn't have the pow I was expecting.
I don't know...maybe what the guy in the wheelchair in the end said was why it was so open-ended, something about how the who matters more than the why, etc....I'm paraphrasing because...I kinda tuned out and half listened because I was so put off by the lame ending....
Anyone else have thoughts?

I was upset and disappointed also. It is like since The Sopranos took off, they just didn't want to invest any additional time and effort in Oz anymore. Too bad.. I don't like the Sopranos (but then again I don't like wiseguy type things anyway, I Abhore the Godfather series).. I was most upset by the fact that they executed Cyril anyway.. Ohhh well.

Yeah I, too was extremely upset that they executed Cyril.
I'm ENRAGED at the Bitch of a doctor, however! I called HER a few names let me tell ya! sheesh.
And yes. the ending sucked. the first hour and a half were fine but as you got to the end it was like...um....there's gonna be some closure to stuff.....RIGHT?
It seems that the only closure was people dying left and right.
The whole 'package' thing was soooooo lame. Oooooo.....so Oz was left abandoned for a while...oooooo so scarey.
And yeah, he did try to wrap it up by saying that it didn't matter what had happened. but the who and the why. But DUH. the who and the why weren't finished, now were they?
I do agree, however, that like some other shows did....they went out during their prime and not after seasons of crap.
Ah well. that's all i wanted to say.

LOL...see and I LOVE all things Mafia...but it took me 2 season in, to get hooked on the Sopranos....once I did I liked it a lot...although I think with the exception of Carmela finally going off on Tony...it was rather lame this last season...
As for Oz....it just felt like a cop-out, like the Seinfeld ending....
I have a GOOD question....since I didn't watch the first 3 seasons.....why did Ryan have Cyril kill the doc's husband and why did she get involved with Ryan after, knowing that he did?

My thought is that maybe they left it so open-ended so that they could pull the old network trick of some future "Oz" special feature movies sometime down the road on HBO?
It won't quite be "The Walton's Mothers' Day Special," but maybe they'll do "The Oz Diaries" or something like that.
I think HBO is really screwing themselves with "Sex and the City" and "The Sopranos" due to end with the next season. At least "Six Feet Under" is good...
