MDRF - Which weekends? HELP!

PirateRogue and I are looking ahead to MDRF and which dates we will be able to attend. At this point we will be there Columbus Day weekend, October 9-10th. We also will be there a second weekend, either October 2-3rd or 16-17th. So my question... which would be the better weekend? Hubby is taking whichever week off in between the two weekdends, and needs to put in for it ASAP.

One of the weekends will likely be "family time", since his family lives in North Virginia and will want to go... so we won't get to have the mischief and mayhem we would like. :roll: You don't want to know his mother's opinion of women with mass quantities of cleavage... though *evil grins* it would be fun to corrupt... er... wench his father. *plots*

So which weekend should we plan for which?

My personal opinion: October 16 & 17

October 16-17 is Shakespeare weekend, which might make good family time. The 9th and 10th is Romance weekend which might be better for the the 2 of you to enjoy mischief and mayhem. 2nd and 3rd is Oktoberfest, not generally the best weekend unless you are really into just a lot of outright drunkeness and oompah music. I know a lot of people who don't (won't) go Oktoberfest weekend.

Oct 2,3 is their Oktoberfest - dare I say many a drunken Rogue & Wench. If it's family time for you, perhaps the Shakespeare weekend 16th & 17th would be better, unless your family thinks the ale more fun than the tale!

Having been to MDRF on Octoberfest occasionally, I can say that there is a definite lack of the usual suspects that weekend.

I'm thinking it might be a great time to visit PARF, myself. :D

Please consider the other mentioned weekends. Octoberfest is not MDRF at its best.

Anyone been to PARF durring their Hallween theme weekends? I'm going to visit for the first time this year. The hubby and I got married on Halloween day 2002 and thought it might be a good weekend adventure for our anniversary this year (though a week early!)

Call me crazy, but I don't usually pay attention to what weekend it is at PARF-- they don't seem THAT different to me (ad I'm going to be there anyway, so....). I do know that Halloween weekend tends to bring out more crazies, but in a good way. Some of the cast will dress up, and many of the patrons. I believe they'll decorate the booths, too. Last year, everyone was told to have some kind of illumination for the evening, as it was after Daylight Savings Time, so there were a lot of lanterns and candles-- t'was quite pretty.

We're looking into going to MDRF the weekend before it closes because we will NOT miss closing weekend at PARF. Man this is shaping up to be an amazing season!! Sterling...NYRF....PARF and MDRF..... HUZZAH!!!!!!!!!

That's the weekend we are going too. I've already made our reservations. Muffin and Alianne are also going that same weekend. All for the same reason. I'm NOT missing PARF closing to be at MDRF.

As for PARF in October - It ROCKS!! But then it always rocks. The only real difference it that some get a little crazier with their garb.
