I was getting my resume done today by a recruiter. She asked me a very good question which I pose to you all:

If you could have any job without needing prior experience or care about having to make x amount of money....what job would you want?

I said Broadway or General Actress/Singer, TV anchor woman/reporter or weather person or working in radio as part of a morning crew, like for anyone familiar with PLJ, the Scott and Todd show, or a Disney Imagineer.

I'd be part of a group of people running my own ren faire, live role-play reenactment venue, horse ranch, ren university, recording studio, B&B, ren tavern and ren village somewhere in Montana where when not "working" we'd be playing. Oh wait - I'm gonna do that within a few years - good lord willing and the creek don't rise!

Until then, I'm livin' the dream at an ad agency and life is pretty good.

My dream job is to work with Bud Greenspan on his documentaries on each Olympic games. Ever since I first saw one years ago, I thought that would be just the most amazing thing to do.

I was reminded of this last night watching the documentary of the 2002 Winter Games. The scope he brings to each Olympics, focusing on athletes both famous and obscure -- winners and losers -- is simply inspiring, both from a character view and from a filmmaking point of view.

Writer - already working on two non-fiction book proposals which I plan to have ready to shop out by summer

Journalist - lifestyles

I already do the latter part time, and I am trying to be patient while waiting for it to become full time.

I would also like to sing - not necessarily to be famous, just to sing in a band. My husband keeps encouraging me to try out for a band, but I am afraid. So we shall see.

I would LOVE to work for ILM. Industrial Light and Magic. Lucasfilms. Stuff that takes my engineering skills and my creative skills and puts both to work creating out of this world stuff! :) Disney Imagineering, too! Oh, if I could only do some of the computer animation stuff, I'd be in heaven... If I had animatronics or computer animation stuff to work with, I'd be one of the happiest people on earth...

I'm so tired of the lack of creativity in engineering. At least, where I am. Most of what my place does? Takes someone else's designs and corrects them. And in fact, that's what most engineers do, is sit around correcting someone else's design. Very few engineers get to do the truly creative and interesting stuff, most of them just get to fix someone else's creative stuff.

Joe and I have a field day watching the "making of" stuff that they include on nearly every DVD nowadays... you've no idea how much I was drooling watching the "making of" stuff for Tarzan or Star Wars... *sigh*

I wanna be a set designer... *wistful sigh* They get all the fun stuff...

Being a movie actress has always been my dream... sometimes when work here in indiana stinks, it takes all my will power (and knowing i have to make a car payment each month) not to just pick up and move to california.

Other than that, i still want to save the world... if i could go back into the peace corps and go back to africa, i would. it was so amazing over there.

My ultimate fantasy:
To get back into voice training, and go be a lead dramatic soprano for the Metropolitan Opera. Once upon a time, I actually had the pipes for it...

My everyday dream:
Clothing and shoe design, with an emphasis on special occasion gowns. Here's the twist: I want to make clothes and shoes that adjust in proportion of the size (ie, no 1/16" wide spaghetti strap on a size 22, and no 1-1/2" wide shoulder strap on a size 2) Same thing for decolettage, trims and such. That way my designs will look good on everyone.
:) And by gods, there will be shoes in size 5-12!!

Now if we are talking non-job related...
I would have that 797 acre farm/ranch with the 5000 square foot home and a TON of critters... Raise horses and live happily ever after.

I'd love to own my own restaurant/crafting studio/shop. It'd be a very homey, backwoods type place -- fireplaces, dogs free to roam the shop part, etc... where my friends and I could play our music, craft, and have a great time. I'd love for people to love it themselves as a peaceful, homey place. :)

XOXOXOXOX

Mine is boring compared to all of the imaginative things you ladies have suggested, but it is what is close to my heart.

Coporate training. I'd love to have my own business where I travel around, doing 1-2 day business workshops for companies, teaching them things like customer service, attitude and such. Then I could combine three loves: teaching, travel and of course ren faire because I would plan trips around faires. Imagine being able to write off air-fare to a faire as a business expense! Yeah!!

Failing that, I would love a corp. training position within the company I currently work for. :D

I would be an astronaut on an intersteller ship. Either that, or a Healer on Pern, with my own dragon. Oh. Real Life. Sleep research, especially in the parasomnias. I'm working towards that with my new job - need to find out if there's tuition reimbursement... Or a full time student. Or an archaeologist. Darn. Too many choices! I also want to be a writer - fiction. Do I have to chose?

You know I did leave one off my list.....a mounted police officer or park ranger. I think *that* would be sooooo cool. (Except in the cold months...)

Mel...owning a good old Irish style pub is always in the back of my mind. However, I think with the right people hired to run it I could still do something else and just drop in when I felt like it. Heck if it did *well* enough...i could just let it be my bank-roll for travelling....

You know... something I HAVE thought about (since doing ILM is currently out of my reach)... If i ever get enough money scrapped together (or venture capital), I'd love to start a craft store... one that doesn't just have craft items for less, but regular classes... Kind of like a Michael's, but with a slightly different skew on the craft side... More textile-type stuff. And teaching classes on a very regular basis... I'd teach! :)

Used to work at Valentine's Dive Center in Harbour Island Bahamas... :D For Schools I would recommend Pro-dive, as they have an employment placement program and are a Gold Certified School as well as one of the top 5 for education value, and for placement.
