Greetings Ladies,
I hope you have all been well. I apologize for being MIA lately but sometimes life does that to us.
I wanted to update you all on the elections for Madame and Vice Madame for IWG Local 24. I am sad to say they were cancelled due to apathy. Not one eligible wench submitted to Lars her name or the name of someone else to run for local office.
By default that makes me the local Madame for the next two years . . . or until the next election.
As I already mentioned, my life is getting far too busy. I sort of fell into being Madame by accident. I have loved my time as the head of Local 24, but moving forward I am afraid I do not have the time to devote to it that is needed. You deserve a Madame that has the time to give you and the Local the attention they deserve.
We have a few options.
First, if our lovely Vice-Madame-who-used-to-be-Madame steps back into my Jimmy Choos as Madame then the problem is solved. I know, however, that she most likely does not have the time either and I would not ask that of her.
Second, I can resign as Madame. This would, in essence, shut down Local 24 and all of the New England wenches would be folded into Local 69. I really hate the idea of closing the Local. Wenches before me worked tremendously hard to start the Local and I don't want my legacy to be as the one who shut it down.
Third, I can stay on as Madame and hold another election. I am willing to do this so that the Local remains viable. I'd like your thoughts on possibly trying again to hold the election in the next few months.
Whether or not I stay on as Madame, I will not be at faire as often this summer as I have in the past. We will not be doing another cookbook. If we can find a fundraiser that will not take thousands of hours to pull off, I'd be amenable to continuing our charity
work.
If you want all the power and glory that comes with being a local Madame or Vice Madame, please read my posts on our Yahoo group on eligibility requirements for running for office.
Warm regards,
Cassandra
