Pagans plan to celebrate in Finger Lakes festival
(Canandaigua - AP) Organizers expect 200 to 300 people for Finger Lakes Pagan Pride Day in August.
The daylong event in Canandaigua's Baker Park will be free and include workshops on topics such as paganism, wicca and witchcraft.
Heidi Gleber, local coordinator, says it will be a chance to show pride in their religion and for the public to see what pagans are all about.
The City Council voted recently to grant a permit for the celebration.
Gleber tells the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle there are about 300,000 pagans worldwide. She says there are no available statistics for the region, but they have a lot of volunteers.
