According to the Tuxedo police, nearly all of the weapons that they sell at Angel Sword are illegal to posess and sell in NYS. My rouge and the well known scotssman got into a bit of trouble for having AS weapons out in the trunk of the car on the way home on sunday, and apparently also according to the police it's NOT ok to bring weapons into the fair whether or not they're being peace tied.

I wouldn't be surprised if AS didn't last too much longer, unless however the cop was lying out his ass.

What's so terrible about them? More importantly, what's worse about them than, say, Lundegaard?

Though I can't imagine they sell many $10,000 blades--Damascus or not-- at a Renaissance faire.

Angel's are razor sharp "weapons", whereas Lundeblades can be argued as "reenactor" peices, as most are unsharpened and are geared for stage combat. 15 years ago, when I was Lars' apprentice, we had that arguement with the powers that be...

NYC is a totally different animal too, much more strict than NYS. And Tuxedo town Gov is not the nicest people to rennies right now either. Tuxedo and the faire aren't playing nice... Fault lies with both....

Mass. is worse, Starfire needs to blunt its swords MORE than normal...

Not that recently but recent enough, I was pulled over on my way home from a show. The hilt of my stage blade was sticking out of the bag on the floor. Long story short, the officer wanted to detain me for weapons possession. Luckily one of the officers that responded to the scene for backup recognized me from NJRK. Nowadays anything that can be viewed as a "weapon" is liable to be confiscated or made an issue of. Friends have told me that the anhks they wear have gotten them hassled by the boys in blue.

If you search you will find most double edge blades are illegal in most states. If they are dull you can pass them off as stage weapons ot the like, but sharp ones are a no no.

How are ankhs considered a weapon? I wear them all the time, and I'd like some clue what to look out for. Thanks!

Perhaps the police in question saw "The Hunger" a few too many times?
