I have found the best and cheapest way to find leather for small items that I am making are at thrift stores. On numerous occasions I have bought NICE, real leather coats for $10-$15 and made dozens of items by cutting it up and reshaping it into what I want. Good luck!

You are most welcome! Glad I could help. From which faire do you hail, m'lord? If we are in close proximity I can browse the shops here and perhaps bring you anything that I find.

Oh, you mean tthe bags of scrap leather that they sell at Potomac Leather in Sterling?

what a coinkidink, I just bought a huge number of their scrap bags this last weekend at mDRF. ;)

Thrift stores aren't the only good place, by the way. try ebay. i got a fabulous fox fur coat on ebay a few years back... $30, and absolutely wonderful...

Leathers for inexpensive prices as well.

You can get real leather coats on ebay for like 30 bucks... cheaper than full leather skins.

Try seeing if there is a Tandy leather store around your area or here's the web site:
http://www.tandyleather.com/
They always have a good selection, and if there is a store near you they always have leather scraps that are great for little projects
Hope that I helped

Hope that I helped By the looks of things I might write to Tandy leather in Missasagua which is about an hours drive away. Get a load of this -------I was in Walmart the other day and they have pieces of leather from "Tandy" hanging up on display . Now these pieces are about one foot square ------But their prices were un real I thought-----they were on sale for $4.00 each.

It's cheaper to drive an hour to the tandy store than buy the same leather at Walmart.
