View Full Version : So...who wants to go to a bar??!

I had a most excellent though while sitting in a local bar watching one of my favorite bands playing up on stage.
Namely....why don't the wenches ever go en masse to bars to support their favorite local bands??
What I would like to do is set up a get together for 11/27. One of my favorite bands, Winterfell (visible at www.winterfell.org ) will be playing at a bar in York along with several other bands. I know the lead singer from when we worked at Earthlink.
It's in a little dive that has very little going for it save the music up on stage.
I was thinking we could get a group of 5-20 together and just storm the place, take it over for the evening! Hell, maybe we could even wench the bands if'n they'd be willing. (Take a look at the boys in Winterfell, gals...mm-hmm...you know you wanna lay one on them! Hell, I do...)
If anyone's interested, give me a heads up. I can get you directions, stuff that's in the area, any recommendations (like go across the street to teh Hess gas station to use the bathroom...it's scary in there!)
I'd just like to get an idea. It will be very fun, I promise. I should also probably mention that you really should like metal, because that particular night there are 3 power metal bands playing. \m/ :) \m/
Thanks guys!

Apparently I forgot to mention there would be alcohol involved, seeing as this thread is deader than a 3 day old mouse in a trap.
THERE. Does THAT help? :D

Well, under normal conditions, even being the old fogey that I am, I'd be willing to make the trip to York b/c, well, I like metal  But that's Thanksgiving weekend. Which might be the reason this thread is as dead as a dead thing stuck for several days in something that made it dead. (Inspiration by Blackadder).
If you find another date, let me know. Oh, and I LOVE dives.

Besides being Turkey Day weekend - it's also hubby's birthday so there is no way that we would go..

Well, we might have another one soon...Foxglove's trying to get info for another one to post, but I'm going to let her do that. It's her band, so to speak...

Well, honestly, if my presence wasn't required out of state for such holidays, I'd be inclined to go anyway. But, I'm supposed to be in Tennessee that weekend.

Oh, I don't know. From what you've said, that's sorta open to debate.

Well, personallly, I'd pass for the following reasons:
2 hours from my house -- not driving that far to go drinking.
Thanksgiving weekend.
Not a metalhead. It's just not my cuppa.
Now, if we could find something maybe half way between the fairgrounds and Philly -- maybe a dance club or someplace/band that plays different types of music....*that*, I'd be interested in. ;)

I could go for that.
But no cover bands. They suck, i loathe their existance and the way they prey on the works of other artists the way remoras steal food from sharks! ARGH! MUST be an original local band!! :D

Well, when they played Celtic Fling, they were a kick-ass (duh) Celtic band. Someone said they do covers, though. I dunno. I liked them a lot.
I have a friend who does sound for them. I'll try to find out where/when and what they're doing.

I go to see them whenever I can, but haven't seen them since the PARF season started. :( They do some cover stuff, but they also do a lot of their own original stuff as well.

That sounds as if it could most definitely rock! If we can get it together, I would certainly try to show! (Unless someone thinks that since I proposed the idea, it's my job to arrange these things. Which, you know, I could do...)
I missed a lot of good bands at the Celtic Fling. i was babysitting.
