I need to make some wrap pants/ stupid pants, and cannot find a pattern. Any suggestions? I want them to be the kind that show a nice bit of thigh when you move.

Please help!!

Almost any pants pattern will work well for that, as long as they have an outseam. You just need to extend the leg outwards a little, making it fuller, and extend the top and bottom into something long enough to tie around the waist and ankle. It's always the crotch seam that's the tricky bit-- anything else is fairly uncomplicated trial and error.

I can't even sew on a button so I am no help in the pattern area, but I know people.

Tavara and I went to Provincetown last summer and we each bought these great wrap pants that tie in the back and in the front and have an inside seam but the outside is completely open. I tie mine at the bottom to keep them from dragging and from opening too much (when it was 100 degrees last summer, I wore these to work). She's tall and just lets them hang.

The point was, email Tavara. She may be able to give you an idea of a pattern.

So, I realize it's 7 years after this thread was started, but I'm looking for a stupid pants pattern. Does anyone now have one?!

There's an actual pattern by the Birch Street company called "Island Pants" -- here's a link to one vendor: http://www.habermanfabrics.com/scart/Birch_Street_Clothing_Page_2.htm

Awesomeness. :) Clearly, this was the place to ask. :)

I appreciate all the help, and when I am wearing some nice cool pants in this ridiculous heat, I will think fondly on all of you. :)

I don't have an acutal pattern for wrap pants. But, I can tell you how I make them.

Measure waist and divide by 4. Add 3 or 4 inches.

Measure length from outside of waist to the floor.

Using existing pants, folded in ½ lengthwise, line up inseam of pants on the fold of the fabric. Mark out the seat on the material using chalk.

From top line of chalk, measure out the divided waist measurement.

From edge of waist measurement, measure down with the outside leg length. Add a few inches and mark.

Cut out

Cut out 2nd piece using 1st as a pattern.

Divide orginal waist measurement in ½ add 12 inches.

Mark out a rectangle that is 3 inches wide by the previous waist measurment. Cut out 2. This is the tie.

Sew ½ inch seam in seat with right sides of fabric together. Sew over again.

Sew ¼ hem on sides of pants.

Fold tie in ½ length wise, press. Fold under ¼ or 3/8 inch on each side and press.

On inside of pants, center the tie with pants, pin right side of tie to wrong side of pants, sew.

Fold over tie. Pin to pants and sew the entire length. Repeat for other side of pants.

Try pants on. Determine the length the ties need to be.

Trim ties to length. Fold ends under into the waist band and stitch closed.

Determine if the bottom hem of the pants needs to be take in any. Make adjustments. Press in a ½ hem.

Then fold the edge of the fabric back on its self to meet the pressed crease. Stitch.

Wear them proudly…you’ve just made wrap pants!!!!!!
