Super Bowl was "this" weekend? Guess you can tell I don't have tv reception up here in the mountains. (insert very wide evil grin here) How was the game? And were the new commercials any good?

Well Luce... break out that jacket, sweets! Personally I didn't care who won for the game's sake... I'm just glad the Eagles didn't... cuz I didn't want to have to deal with the entire state being loopy-nuts for the next month.

..........Magic Bloomers Ride........???????
:snarf::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: oh man Luce... you don't wanna know the image that's in my brain now!!!!! :aok:

So... where's the Courtesy Table go in here? and did we transfer the Corner of Chaos for dear Po? Tis YOUR baby now, Luce! *Mwahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa a*

Quoth the Tall Wench...
and did we transfer the Corner of Chaos for dear Po?

hmm.. apparently we've reached a point where merely *mentioning* the corner of chaos is enough to create one... ("thanks Roscofog!)

Ahem- (looking around).. I say, these are the *roomiest* bloomers I've ever found myself in!  :P  (ducks behind couch in self defence!)

Ah, Monday... sigh.... (I'll try to get that Herring photo done sonetime this week- there's far too many jokes and straightlines inherent in that not to exploit it to the fullest... and I'm sure it'll get fenced with again this coming Sat. at the Feast of the 7 Deadly Sins)

Cue the chorus: "Sell the books, sell the books.."

"The magic bloomers?" Does this mean my scanties can appear and disappear at will? I dunno if I like that idea LOL

Yes I am here, and the rogue and I didn't even need a complete change of blood, even tho we stayed up past midnite from post SB adrenaline-rush....sigh

I'm not gonna wallow or be depressed, the last time Philly made it this far I was four. So I'm thankful and still one happy wench.

ugh, the commercials were less than impressive. I only saw two that I liked - the Burt Reynolds FedEx commercial (featuring a dancing bear that kicked him in the nuts) and the Bud Light cockatiel. the rest were.. just bland.

the FCC should be shot.

Good Morning!

Luce... been raiding my garb closet, eh? Magic Bloomers... ::snerf::

Phoenix McHeit
02-07-2005, 08:11 AM
I liked the Fed-Ex one.. but I was screaming in laughter at the one (can't remember the 'real' product they were hawking) with the Mama's Boy Action Figures......:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

geeeeee... think I might have dealt with one or two in my lifetime? *grin*

I was happily downstaris sewing during the the SB. Got my sleeves done and now just have to decide on shoulder treatments and something for the waist line..

heh.... some things I learned over the weekend... and I apologize if you've heard this from me earlier today... and remember, all spelling errors missed in previewing are brought to you courtesy of Ace bandages.

... thigh high fishnets don't really like stayind up under Prince John boots and bloomers.

... 9 feet of ribbon is just a hair too much for lacing up the back of aforementioned Prince John boots. But it leads to a wondeefrul effect when wrapped and tied into a bow in front of the knee.

... put your socks on BEFORE you put your fishnest on. ::winces at the trussed ham markings on the soles of her feet - still::

... be careful whom you wench - you might end up with a stalker.

... if Lady Sarah and Neeloca won't say it in public, it doesn't need to be said at all.

... when attempting to tint fabric with tea, make sure you don't overcook the tea - you'll wind up with regular brown tint instead of the rich ruby red pomegrante color.

... sometimes wadding up fabric at the bottom of a bucket of dye leads to wonderful color mottling on your linen.

... before you do anything with your 100% linen fabric, serge the raw edges. Your washing machine spindle/agitator will love you, as will your other fabrics, not to mention you'll keep your original cut measurements.

... Keep a written journal of your measurements, dye recipes, how to make certain pieces. It'll make things easier to replicate when they wear out or if a sister wench asks you "How did you do that?"

Dmitri

I've seen this happen ALOT... Danes usually don't 'get it'...

well, I couldn't find any fuschia dye to mix with the purple, and I had to get the stuff dyed so I could work on it , so I dyed a lot of things at once. I was more worried about the aztec print and the paisley print turning out too dark, so I kept them at the top of the bucket and kept crushing the linen down to the bottom. So, the aztec and paisley turned out great, the linen a lovely marbled color of fuschia, purple-gray, lavender and violet. Can't wait to see the whole thing made up!

Flying bloomers???

Well, I am still soaring with my eagles from Saturday. For those who don't know, I saw over 350 bald eagles over the weekend...and they had nothing to do with the Super Bowl...these were the real things. Skweeee!!!! Now more importantly, did the popcorn machine come with all the other furniture?

Yes. It's over there behind that infernal spinning wheel ( points vaguely off behind Apros) that I am hoping some roque can terrify into behaving. :( It won't listen to me. I spend more time fixing it than I do spinning with it lately. :augh: And I want that shawl before this fall. Can't knit it until the yarn is spun, washed , blocked & dried. grumble. Where is Biker with the BFH?

Sarah, I know exactly what you mean re:stalkers. There's really no help for it, as Dmitri said, 'Danes just don't seem to *get* the fact that it's a SHOW!!

Well, our Performance on Friday went well. We did three sets, the crod ate it up. We had two drunken asshats in the first set, but the Brute Squad took it in hand and after they were escorted out, the rest of the evening went swimingly.

Hi guys!
nice new play ground Luce!!

Hmmm the Stupor Bowl.... This is the first year in a really long time that it was not on on this house..... Mum was outta town.

Didn't go to school cuz I have a cold and got stuck with babysitting my 2 year old nephew. I love the little bugger but why is the favorite word of lil' one's every where NO!!!

Ugh I need to go back to bed!

*Mags staggers in and fops on the couch in a heap.*

What a day!! Cold, nasty, rainy, wet weather. Spent all day on the road driving clients hither and yon. The bright spot was lunch at La Shish - shwarma yummmmmm.

Taking a quick break before getting dinner ready. It's meatloaf night!!

Hello all.
:grouphug:

I'm so tired. I've packed over 70 orders today, which is insane for me.
:faint:

See you've had a heck of a day too Mags ::hugs::

Margaret

Yup. It never was a bad day, I was just all over BFE and back. A few times.
Never knew how tired one can get just driving.

Then fighting the rain and I-696, which in these here parts, is nicknamed the Autoban.

*Mags starts gummblin about asshat drivers doing 90 mph on a rain covered road with nice high cement walls as shoulders....

Off to make meatloaf.

*Hugs to Arte* Hope you can relax the rest of the night too. :D

You know it's really weired to see everyone post how bad their day was, when mine only just begun. I get to work at 1p & don't get off the phones until 10p. It's really strange to see everyone get ready for dinner, when I', just eating my lunch.

Strange, strange world.... & people.

Back in the days before I was wed, I lived with a roomie who was on midnights. I was on days. There was always something going on at our house due to hours. We would manage, once in a while to meet for breakfast/dinner. :D

Lucky thing she and I were able to work it out so we could sleep...

I figured a different BFH might make an impression. And I have been using a drop spindle and various support spindles. I need this Lincoln fleece spun up in a hurry. I need the shawl for an event this fall.
And run very far & fast. :) You have no idea of how many fleeces I have. Last time I checked, I had about 100. And that was before I bartered for more. Maybe I should go to a wool anynomous meeting. Hi my name is Rose and I have a wool......Oh look a llama.

Doing just fine in spite of the cold, rainy, dreary weather. Get to do a bunch of running around today - nothing like yesterday when I was on the road all day...

To top it off, some areas of the country celebrate Fat Tuesday. Around here it is Paczki Day. Pronounced 'Punch-Key', these caloric delights are filled pastries and a Polish tradition. Fillings include prune, lemon, strawberry, apple and anything else you can stuff in. Paczki are high in fat and high in calories (about 600 per) and eaten to celebrate the begining of Lent. Also, presumably made with a ton of lard and sugar to empty out the larder and get some calories in the system in aniticipation for the fasts that were to come during Lent.

They are wonderful..... :yum:

Yes yes, my work has too fallen captive to the Fat Tuesday excuse to have a bunch of food here. I'll be avoiding the breakroom today. I don't need to get any more depressed about my weight so I'm better off. I am at my 'winter weight' too. My clothing isn't fitting any differently and I don't own a scale, so I don't know what amount I have added. Just have the winter sluggies. Come spring, though, I will get more active and feel better.

I did find a new bikini though last week. Look darn good in it too - so that made me feel better...

ROLF Fiber and kids are usually a good combination. At least from the kids point of view. My youngest son went missing once in the house. We looked everywhere for him. By the time I found him, my oldest son was tearing the neighborhood apart looking for the 1 year old. Anyway, Hunter had made himself a nest in my show fleeces in my bedroom. He dumped the fleeces out of their bags, laid out his blanket on top of them, made himself comfortable and went to sleep. I was so relieved to find him that I didn't care that he was sleeping in the middle of the unwashed fleeces. And since it was so cold, (we were having freezing weather at the time) I left him sleeping there. FIgured he would be warmer sleeping there than in his crib.

Yes, it would probably help you, but probably do him little to no good. Is the meth something he's done in the past or a new and different drug of choice?

Good morning all. I was going through some severe Wench withdraw this past few days. You can only talk so much about nothing with your co-workers. They either want to talk about the NBA, or their character sheets. Must say, not too interested in either one. I do understand a little about D&D and of course I have played a Magic with my brother a few years back, so I understand when they talk about that as well. But, mainly they want to discuss selling the cards on E-Bay.
This weekend I was busy shopping again. Mom & I went to Target & we bought some jewlery. I got some really nice earrings & a natural pearl necklace that will go GREAT with my Garb. I also went shopping at Wal-Mart with my Brother. I bought some clothes for me & a nice shirt for my Brother. I also bought some DVD's & a game for my Brother as well.
Geez, spending money can be tiring.

Glad that the boards are back up. Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend & if you have the Holiday off, hope you enjoy the day as well.

Didn't do much this weekend except for packing orders and working at the shop. Had a couple come in all the way from Piscataway NJ (2 hours south) just for the Sofi's Stitches clothing! They just started with Ren Faires, so I told the lady about the Guild. She didn't know it existed. But I had to tell her about it because she said she and her husband are ready to retire soon and she wants to move to a place close to her favorite renaissance fair - now THAT'S a wench if I ever heard one. And added points for FaireFolk Corruptness.

Did someone keep the carpet from the last thread? We will need something to sit on so we don't grass stains. Besides, Po would be able to appear in a wonderous puff of smoke when the food is ready, or when the drinks are poured.

Song: My Favorite Things Lyrics

Friends at the Ren Faire that I plan on meeting
All of the Faire food I plan on eating
Wenches in bodices all tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Groups like The Lost Boys and Three Quarter Ale
May play the same songs but they won’t go stale
The Washer Well Wench Show and the smiles they bring
These are a few of my favorite things

The Rogueings and Wrenchings with songs that are bawdy
The Wenches at after-hours acting all naughty
The horrible songs at the pub we all sing
These are a few of my favorite things

When the faire ends
When Work stinks
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

M'dearest sis Fiona... prior to 11 years ago - I was an aspiring writer - even started a fantasy novel that had a few publishers biting at the bit.. additionally, I was interviewed by an Author and included in her dissertation.. I have always loved to write..

Then - well - let's just say.. the Muse's did not simply just leave me.. they ran with utmost speed and diligence... and only recently have they found their way back into my life...I still have not been able to sit down and pick up that novel again - but - I'm working towards that end.. as well as on my documentary on Women Warrior's.. (which is also a class I teach within the SCA and at Pennsic).

Maybe.. if I can get my guitar fixed - I might even be able to compose again.. have to wait and see what the Muse's have in mind....and when and where inspiration will hit...

Well, I'll be somewhere between the Barony of Endless Hills & House Neptune (I think).. 'not enough coffee yet.. still fuzzy'... Last Pennsic (after trying for about 6 years) was the first year they approved the class to be taught at Pennsic and it turned out really well - so hopefully they won't give me grief this year - now that I have set the prescedence (this class is a bit un-traditional {{like me I guess}} and delves a bit deeper into "women warriors" than your typical class on fighting). They gave me 2 time slots last year - which is what I'll shoot for again this year.

To give you an idea of the class - here's the description from last year...

"Amazonism - Beyond the Myth of Warrior Women & Matriarchal Society"
.....{{which btw - is also the title of the book I am writing on this subject}}

"What is an "Amazon"? Examine the legends & myths as Medieval peoples would
have known them; then learn the anthropological, archeological, and
historical perspectives with a look at cultural research in Central
Asia, as well as the stories of "Amazon," women like Boudicca, Graine
Ni Maille, Joan d' Arc, and Marguerite De Bressieux of Medieval
Europe."

Beware if anyone ever asks you how your evening/morning was. The following was the e-mail that I sent to Pussywillow when she asked me about my evening. I apologize for the length & if it seems way to off topic.

Okay, well by the time that I got home & was able to get to my mail it was way to late to call anyone to inform that I got part of my garb. I went to bed around 1am, knowing fully well that I had to get up early this morning. The storm came through around 2:30a-2:45a. I know this 'cause the lightening & thunder woke me up. Along with the wind & rain, the lights going out, having to visit the facilities, dogs & cat, I didn't get much sleep last night. I got up after the lights came back on, went to the bathroom. D.O.G. followed me & asked to go outside. I went to let him out in the storm, you know little doggies can only cross their legs for so long. Well, lightening struck, thunder rumbled, 1 dog backed up, two more came rushing in. I tried to force the bigger one out to no avail. Nope, He wasn't going to move. He gave me the equivalent of a doggy finger. Sooooo, I decided to let them (dogs) stay in my room until the storm passed or until Mom & Dad got up. I wrote a brief but urgent note to my Parents to get the dogs out of the room A.S.A.P. The storm was taking it's time in leaving our area, when I heard soft scratching/pawing at the bedroom door. Someone had my attention. As I was getting up to open the door, I heard the plaintive "mwrow-MOM"! Ash wanted to be let in the room NOW!!! So I opened the door to let him in. Since I didn't hear any more thunder, I decided that it was a good try to see if I can get the dogs out of the room/house & I could get some sleep. Mind you, Gremlin wasn't satisfied in laying on the floor in my room. no he had to pace, stand up ON my bed (on me), lay on my bed (ON me), and whine. So I called the dogs to follow me and opened the front door. As I did, lightening struck, the lights went out, and thunder shook the trailer. Gremlin, D.O.G. and Bebe said NOPE, Uhh Uhh, not a chance. Again the doggie finger. Soooooo, I trudged back to my room & noticed the time to be about 3:30a (an hour into this & I KNOW I'm not going to get any sleep). I called the dogs & Ash into the room. Since Ash has Kitty Claustrophobia, the bedroom door needed to be left open a bit. Not to much to allow the dogs to roam, but enough to allow Sir Grey Cat to leave if he feels the need. We all crawl/climb into bed; Ash jumps up on top of the T.V.; and try to go to sleep amidst thunder, rain, wind, whine, rattle, and lightening flashes. I sleep badly for the next hour & a half. D.O.G. woke up when he heard Mom & Dad rustling along in the kitchen. So, again I have to get out of bed and try to let the dogs out. I open the door hoping that they will all go into the kitchen to say "Good Morning" to the parental units. Gremlin did, D.O.G. wanted ME to let him out, Bebe pretended to be dead in bed. I grabbed the little red dog, and went into the front room to let the dogs out. D.O.G. could no longer cross his doggy legs, he was more than willing to go outside. Bebe followed suit. Gremlin was a different story. He hid behind Dad's chair in the kitchen asking for the big man's help. Mom came out of her bedroom & told him to get out. At that point, I told Mom "Good Luck" and went back to my room to climb back into my bed. That my dear was around 5:30a-5:45a. At about 6:25a or so I was having a "waking" dream in which I was listening to my radio alarm to get up, but I was still in bed & I wasn't paying attention to it. I was just rolling over to check to see what time it was when the alarm went off. I said the Hell with it & hit snooze. the alarm went off again in about 9 minutes, I again hit snooze. 27 minutes after the alarm initially went off, it went off again. This time it seemed much louder than before, I cried out "I'm getting up!" and rolled over to turn down the din. That was my morning prior to my morning actually starting. Thankfully, I was only on the phones from 10a-1p, then I got off to do MOD. I'm tired, my back is sore, and there is a chance of more thunder storms tonight. At this point I know what "Noah" went through during his 40 day ordeal. Can you imagine have to calm all those animals during 40 days of thunder storms & rain? That is IF it really happened. I have doubts about that. But, as a person who probably had to deal with scared animals I can sympathize.

By the way D.O.G. & Bebe are Dachshunds. Gremlin is an Australian Sheppard.

I wanna go home & go to bed!!! :tantrum:

At least for about an hour (or so) anyway - then its off to the shower and if the weather doesn't get too bad - there's a trip to the Baroness' house this eve.. to work on Illumination and obtain her article for the Baronial Newsletter - and possibly a stop prior to - to pick up her armor from our Knight Marshal and deliver it.

To revisit the Pennsic thread - it could (based on an earlier conversation with Her Excellency) become interesting for me this year.. discussions will be continuing - we'll have to see how the *puzzle pieces* all fit together - and what I will be asked (or required) to abdicate.

I can empathize with the *thunderstorm* story - as I have 2 cats (Majick & Nagilum) and an Akita (Bodaishin) who are all storm-shy and think *mom* is the protector from all evil loud and boisterous noises - however, once they cuddle in with me (or my daughter).. and we're all bedded down for the eve.. nonce move till the light of day - or at the very least - the storm lets up - then with Bo.. its outside - ONLY long enough to take care of business - then right back to mom - as close as he can possibly get.

OK.. back to the mill-grind... (also known as the March issue of Across the Hills)

Anon.. M'Sisters... (and Rogues, and Buccaneers, and Scoundrals, and Rakes and......etc..etc..etc..)

...But, as a person who probably had to deal with scared animals I can sympathize.

I feel for you Branwen. My dear Australian Shepherd, Kylie, passed away last year. She was very afraid of thunderstorms also. During a night thunderstorm, she would leave her sanctuary in the mud room and run to the boys room. She would whine and scratch until they opened the door. Then she would dives straight under their bunk bed, scrunched up in the corner, until the storm passed or morning broke, whichever came first. But Goodness help those who came close to her people. *Grin* the mailwoman still makes us go to the post office to pick up anything she can't shove into the box.

Oy!

What a day. Let it be known, that if you wish to feel needed, leave your office for a day or two (or in my case four). Geeze o peets! People who I have not talked to in several weeks left me messages.

However, it's over and done. It's the weekend. I have sewing to catch up on and bead and sparkly shopping to do tomorrow :bananada:

May I direct your attention to the following thread

In Local 69, thread topic 'New Member Needs Your Help'

Suzanne is not a member of the IWG yet, but is looking for info on what it means to be in the Guild. I got a mail from her a few days ago asking for permisison to join our Local's Yahoo group. Since she wasn't a member of the IWG, I couldn't approve her membership, but I sent her over here.

Could you all, if you feel like it, pop over there and help her out? I would appreciate it!

Think I have punctured my finger too. I have never mastered the skill of using a thimble and have spent the day trying to drive a need through several layers of fabric. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch.

Got a bunch of stuff done though, my doublet is near completion, a shirt is done and my beading is also done (for now...)

Well, no war yet. I am using the cake & ice cream as incentive for the older boy to get a large chunk of his missing schoolwork done. More than one way to get him to do it.

So no one gets any cake or ice cream until he gets more of his math done. :haloslip: I have been informed by my youngest son that I am evil. (He has his homework done in a timely manner & turned in.) Goes with the job description.

LOL! One weekend the friends were over for dinner. My friend Mona and her then 5 year old were duking it out over the food. She told him "You can eat what was prepared or you can starve." (there was plenty of stuff that he would have eaten). He looks at her and says. "I'll 'tarve.". Then looks at her with his best melodramatic look and declaires "Meanest mommy in the world." Mona ruffled his hair and said "Yup, and don't you forget it." :D

(Po sits back at the keyboard and sips his tea..)

For those who have seen it and recall.. there’s a moment towards the end of the movie version of the musical 1776... Having struggled for so long against not only the British, but also amongst themselves- the Continental Congress is amazed to have finally resolved years of debate and heated argument and find themselves (against all odds and completely and utterly unexpectedly) agreeing to sign the Declaration of Independence... There is a moment of silence- as if the entire universe is holding its breath in expectation, as if reality itself does not know what next to expect and is gingerly waiting. The moment stretches... until quietly John Adams softy says (as if to himself); “It is done.”

Very recently (mere hours ago) the universe gifted me just such a moment. (No- I’ll not claim it’s of anywhere near the importance of Adams’ revelation.. it’s actually quite a tiny accomplishment (it‘ll affect less than a dozen people, and indirectly at that)- but it was the culmination of years of indirect effort, as well as months of *direct* effort, both on my part and that of several others. struggling- *uphill* against the system) ...And to sit here -right now- at this desk.. eyeing the envelope awaiting pickup - waiting for the US Snail pickup to arrive... to deliver said document to its final signature... all I can do is contemplate...

It is done.

Most of you deserve my gratitude for your involvement and support (knowingly or otherwise- even those of you whose posts served to entertain and keep me, if not *sane*- then at least functioning at a state less than homicidal <grin>). Several of you (and you do know who you are, My Dears, don’t you?) deserve quite a bit more than that. I’ll have to see what can be done to show you my appreciation... (mead perhaps?)

I’ll not say any more just now.. as I want to wait until the paperwork weaves it’s way into the system and then returns back to me. But I am a very happy “SwashBOOKlin’ Rogue” this day. (Though I’d love for this approaching storm to dissipate and allow me to go to tonight’s Steel-Therapy session- I just know that tonight the blade would sing in my hand...)

Thank you, Ladies (and all).. Each and every one of you.

Hi all just got home from my break and well I wanna go back to Arizonia!!! We went from 65 degrees to 19. ( there is a mojor problem here)

Mum and I had a wonderful time at Faire and a fun time with the Bone Crew!

And now I can say that I have left the U.S we went into Mexico one day and went to the market. But mum did not tell me that there is a strictly barter system down there. I was sooo lost for a while

All in all a great week minus the whol being stuck in Retirement Land thing....

But the only bad part of this is the fact that my BF went home to Muskogee and has no money to get back and is satying for the faire down there. So that means that it's 3 mounths till we see each other again. Sniff Sniff

I'm hoping to skip over to JoAnn's today at lunch and ... buy the velveteen... get some lace to go around the neck. A real simple and sweet crocheted lace I think would be nice.
