Tomorrow is the big day. Devon gets her tonsils out. Poor kid is scared to death. The doctor said at her age (21) it's going to be tough. This is her first ever IV, surgery, trip to hospital and anestetic. She needs all the get well and healing vibes I can beg for her. She has to be healed by three weeks for her audition. So please please please put her in your thoughts.

Yep - tonsils are one of those the older you get the rougher the surgery - be prepared with lots of popsicles, and keep a close eye on her for the first week - bleeding is a big risk.
Best of luck to her - she'll feel so much better after she recovers!

Thankz to youz. I had to find some humor in all of this. Whenever she tells anyone she's getting them out, everyone has a horror story of their uncle's cousin's half brother's nephew that had the same thing done and it was horrible. She makes polite conversation then turns to me in a panic. I told her not to listen. It's just like when someone is pregnant. Everyone has a horrid labor story that they seem to need to share. People survive labor, so I am sure she will survive this. RIGHT????

My Cousin had them out at 21...no horror story.... all went fine. She did have alot of post op pain but drugs and tons of ice cream helped. If I remember correctly, she was up and about in about a week. I will send lots and lots of good vibes your daughters way.

Chances are excellent that she will be fine - just in pain for several days.
Popsicles. Lots of popsicles. That's what got my niece thru when she had hers out about the same age - with no complications. And much better health now!
The 2 complications in my family were both with older people - and it does get riskier with age.
Popsicles...
