Please understand that this was composed almost 2 weeks ago. I and many others have said some of what is written here, but I would like it all in one place.

-------------------------------------DISCLAIMER----------------------------------
What you are about to read does not apply to all Wenches. I am aware of this, and am not suggesting otherwise. If this *does* apply to you, please read, understand, and apply this new knowledge. If this does not apply to you, I applaud you and feel free to do with it as you will.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been meaning to address this situation for some time now, so here goes.

There are a few simple truths about the IWG:
1) The guild is supposed to be for independent women.
2) The guild is *not* supposed to be a bunch of women going about seeing how much they can imitate harlots.
3) The guild is comprised of many women whom have never set foot on a faire site, and quite possibly *never will*.
4) The guild is supposed to be fun, it is not supposed to be a meat market, or a group of people requiring a baby-sitting service.

Now let’s talk about the wench walks. There are a few simple rules for these as well, so let’s go over them.

1) There will be *no* alcohol or drugs on the walks { as far as OTC meds go, if it impairs your judgement or ability to actually “walk” then you should not take part}
{You can wear a flask during the walk, you just can’t drink out of it}

2) There will be *no* wenches on the walks who have been consuming alcohol to the point that it impairs them {even a little} This will be left up to the discretion of the walk leader.

3) Everyone is required to wear a skirt and a hat during the walks.

4) Marking the victim will happen on exposed skin only. No you can’t just shift the person’s clothing out of the way

5) There will be *no* licking of a victim’s body parts. If you want to do that, pick another time to do it.

6) There will be *no* sucking of a victims body parts. Again, if you want to do that, pick another time to do it.

7) All marking will happen above the waist. I do not want to hear “Well, he was wearing a kilt and his legs were exposed”

8) There will also be *no* tongue kissing on the walks. Yet another thing that you should pick another time to do.

9) If you choose to kilt check someone on a walk, you will go up the side of the leg, not the ass, and *certainly* not the package.

10) Permission will also be asked of all victims {especially kilt checks} as well as their SO’s. We expect no to mean no for us. No means no for everyone else as well.

11) You are supposed to be suggestive, not demonstrative.

In the future, when things start going amuck, I will stop the walk immediately, and the offending wench will be spoken to. I know this seems a little extreme to some of you, but things have gotten out of hand and we need to reign things in a bit.

So, why is Rocket ranting……well, lets talk about that.

There are things that go on that I simply cannot stand. I do not want to be thought of as an easy, sleazy woman, and that is what I think of when I see/hear about certain things. Do you know that the Texas wenches can’t walk because management there has heard about what happens at other shows?? I don’t want to be one of those shows. I simply want to go out, have a good time, and be proud of the IWG. I want some of the other wenches who have stopped walking because of this very same reason to feel comfortable coming back. I hope I am not asking too much.

Do you all also know that what happens in the name of the IWG can have legal repercussions for Mr. Lunde himself?? That’s right folks, he can be across the country and get screwed. No dinner, no lube. I happen to know him personally and love him dearly. I would never want anything to happen to him.

Which brings me to my next point. I really don’t want to ever hear any of you saying “I’m a wench. I have this pin, and I have this little brown book. That means I can do whatever I want.” Cuz ya know what? It just ain’t true. The pin you wear is just that, it is a pin. The book you carry is just that, it is a book. They are not get out of jail free cards. They are not “do whatever you want to” passes. Would you want a Rogue coming up to you and saying they could do whatever they wanted to, even if you didn’t know them ? I didn’t think so. Well, they have pins and little books too.

This is not to say that you cannot be on a faire site and do certain things you want to do, or in a bar, or where ever. The problem arises when you say that you are a member of the IWG and make it seem like this behavior is accepted and expected. I would ask you to remember that your actions reflect on over 3,000 other women.

There’s one other thing that has come to my attention, and that is the fact that some people are of the opinion that you don’t count unless you post. So from now on you will see annoying little posts from me that say “I’m here……..I’m posting……..now what? Just laugh, and go about your day.

Okay Two things....

1. Man am I glad to see I'm not the only schmuck still up at this hour.. :lol:

2. Thank you Ronny for your post. Thank you for clearing up some guidelines for some, and just plain re-stating them for others. Thank you for all your time and thoughts on this as well as your openness to speak about it and listen to others opinions.

Now all that being said and done...

BRING ON THE FUN BABY!!! When's opening weekend...I got a dragon I'm dying to pick up!

Fabulous post Rocket. Very well said.

However I have a silly question. I'm sure other newer (ok and some older) wenches have wondered it at one point or other.

Is there a reason why we have to wear hats on a wench walk? I understand that if we have spiffy braiding or some such that its different but just a general why for, is all :)

Look! There's the face painting Booth!

OK, first off...There are *no* silly questions. If you don't know, feel free to ask. If I don't know, I'll try to find out for you. {God I sound like a teacher. *g*}

We have to wear hats at NYRF because management says so {I feel like a mommy *l*}

Seriously, they feel {and I can understand why} that we look like part of the show. Patrons will think that we work for NYRF, and the show's costuming guildlines say that all workers must wear hats. Workers are allowed to wear garland, or have a fancy braid, so that's why we're allowed to do it as well.

And at least the face painters aren't *right next door* at NYRF! *g*

::in proper Jim Carey fashion:: Ooooooooohhhhhh!

Well that explains that! I wonder how many other gals didn't know that, either. Or was I the last one to know as usual. you know...like with the facepainting.

Hey at least i know where they are in NYRF!

I would note that the hat/head covering requirement will follow you to RPFN, RPFS, and Bristol as well, because it's an REC thing, and their costume regs are the same show to show.

I know Michigan requires head coverings as well, and when we can have walks at GPRF, it will be the norm there, too.

LOL...this is PRECISELY why at Stockwood I DON'T require hats or any head gear at all. Gotta say nya-nya to REC somehow......:pfft: :rotfl:
