Did they show any clips at all?

I really just want to see footage of that to see myself and my friend Aaron (as well as the rest of court) looking totally pissed off during the parade because of the film crews. :P

Bob and Tom is a radio show!! He talked about it briefly. Didn't know a release date for the movie though.

Oooooooh...

I haven't listened to the radio in a long time. No good stations out here.

Gods that was a pain in the ass dealing with those film crews. Remember the day after they promised there would be "no disruption" to the show, when the golf cart came crashing through the morning dance set and nearly ran someone over? Yeah - THAT was fun...

I'm pretty sure you won't see us in any background shots - we were staying well away from that mess and trying to entertain the people who paid to come in and didn't realize they would be seeing Ye Olde Renaissance Camera Crane in the middle of the street.

Oh yeah, I had nearly forgotten about that. Pushed it out of memory actually. :P And were you at the tea when a crew member walked right through, stopped, looked around, and kept walking without an apology? Caroline was pissed. And who could forget the lovely sounds of the stage being built and disrupting tea and surrounding life as well?

Well the REAL court will probably not be in any shots, unless it's us without Caroline. Doubtful though.

My booth was filmed opening and shutting down for the day. I stayed our of the way. I don't film well without good lighting so I sat back and watched.

Most of the hassle didn't reach us, they bought hats and filmed the booth. Though, the parking issue was a major issue the first couple of weeks. The idea that people who work there 16 hours a day were to be bussed from off sight was crazy. There was no way I could bring stuff in that way, even with most of my stuff in the booth.

I hope they got to move the stage they built to somewhere nice on the grounds. Heck they built a stage in the parking grounds too, almost exactly where I've parked for years up against a stand of trees, talk about a pissed off boyfriend. Don't they know he pees into those trees. lol x 10.

I know we got to keep the stage on site (hell we can't move it, it's way too big) but I have no idea about the sets they built in the parking lots. Probably demolished them.

The worst part of parking was really after Hurricane Ike weekend and the back entertainment lot had too much mud.

If this had been a "Pirates of the Caribbean" film you'd all be talking about how awesome it was.

Even if the exact same shit happened.

Not necessarily, if you haven't had movie people actually say to you, "so you're one of them" with a sneer on their face while at the same time they are making a movie about what you do each weekend.

It was sort of exciting but the people that showed up to try out as extras weren't necessarily the people I hang with, some of them featured on the local news were the odder people that even we look at with wonder. That movie brought out some of the weirder birds and ones I've never seen much of at all.

I guess the regulars were all busy actually working.

Perhaps the POTC people would be different as they probably had a billion $$$ more to spend. It was also suppose to be a Jack Black film and then that changed and the excitement sort of faded with that info.

We did have one of the actors from POTC in the movie, everyone was geeked about him and Ann Margaret. I heard she was classy and a sweetie. The actors I heard were nice, it was the supplemental staff that were rude.

I just wonder if it will actually make it to the big screen.

No - not if the same type of crew people showed up.

The faire and the actors got treated as if we were there for the film crews convenience - that the shows did not really deserve any form of 'respect' because they were 'not real shows'. My friends run the jail that is a stones throw from the new stage the ladies are talking about. They had to do their shows over the noise of skill saws and guys hammering all day. They are hoping the stage gets moved too - Area 51 would be nice.

Sure there would be a big more girlish giggling if Jonny Depp and Orlando Bloom were on the grounds, but then there would be more fan gurlz to deal with as well as more "I'm sorry, Mr. Depp is coming through. You have to move."

I felt bad for the people who paid to come to the faire to experience the usual "magic" that we make every day, and who walked around the corner and came across guys in modern clothes with power tools building a "set" in the middle of the street! Not to mention the three stage areas within a stone's throw of that construction trying to do their job over the racket, or the camera crane flying in over the joust.

I know that the tax credits that the film people made helped the faire a lot because the Michigan economy is in the shitter, but it was generally an enormous pain in the ass for everyone concerned.

And not it wouldn't have mattered if it was POTC. I spent most of a summer weaving among the trailers for 'The Dark Knight' - the Lower Wacker I mean Lower Fifth chase scene basically went under my office building, the clowns/hostages bit was shot in the then partially-completed Trump Tower, the mayor's speech took place in the middle of LaSalle street and the scene where Wayne causes the "accident" is in front of the Starbucks across the street from the CTA offices. It's kind of neat to see familiar locations on screen but the actual process is a PITA for all concerned.

What she said.

Hell if Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom were there and being assholes, I would hate them just as much as the film crews!

MMMMMM... not so much. Lurve ya, Pathos, but.... I must disagree.

If this was a POTC film, they'd have had the budget to built their own damned festival and done it with professional 'pirates', instead of trying to completely commandeer MIRF for their little indie film and get as many of their extras and costumed performers as they could for free.

A POTC film would have had enough budget to hire people with a little more class then to make unnessesary noise in the same tent as the Queen's Tea and disrupt a show patrons paid an extra $10 to go to, a little more brains than to drive golf carts straight through the morning dance show shortly after the gates opened to the public, a little bit more consideration than to insist a row of shops completely SHUT DOWN to customers during a 27K attendence day so they could film a single scene...

If this was a POTC film, they'd have had enough building and carpentry staff on hand to build the huge stage they put up in the middle of our site during the week instead of running power tools and radios during show hours on Saturday for several weeks.

Personally, I wouldn't have cared less WHAT movie it was after having to put up with all their crap... POTC, Harry Potter, or whatever... lah-dee-fricken-da. :unamused:

I was there for one day during this mess, and it turned me off, that's for sure. Total and complete chaos.

Luckily there were/are some pretty awesome wenches there to help make the best of what was a terrible situation.

See this is what I get for being on cast/court - I never (ok rarely) know when wenches visit. *sigh* :(

Did the whole movie thing up the attendance rate? I hope it did. I know they bussed people in but not sure if that was more population or just less available parking due to the movie. My booth sells higher end items so sometimes the general public, who is there to hang out, see the sights, and have a turkey leg, aren't always my core customers. We don't sell many small items. Though I did notice I sold alot of peacock feathers as they are $1 a piece. If the movie upped some interest in the faire life and helped up attendance and food sales then good. I think maybe once the actual movie comes out then that is when the general public might get more interested, like Dancing with Stars did for ballroom. However, if they make the faire life seem stupid, then it won't do us any good.
