Thanks much. --Shannon

If you have access to a sewing machine, they are super simple to make. I have used this pattern to make chemises. You can lenghten or shorten the body & sleeves as necessary. http://www.festiveattyre.com/research/chemise.html
Other than that, you may want to try: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/FAIRE-LADY-DESIGNS__W0QQ_armrsZ1 While I haven't bought any chemises from these people, I have ordered grommeting stuff & she is a fast shipper.

Devlyn and Odd Bodkin make some super-fantastic, cool gauze chemises that I swear by and could live in.

That's good to know. A gauze chemise sounds dreamy for our hot, humid Houston days.

HI everyone.
thanks for all the suggestions. I'm looking into several right now.
I do sew, myself, but with the family troubles (health), my own issues, my car troubles, and looking for another job, my patience is sketchy when it comes to actually finishing anything. My 1700s-1840s chemise pattern is right here in my book stack.
Thanks for the suggestions about gauze chemises. I have several acceptable chemises for my characters at Ren. Fest. I'm a "play-tron" at Holly, so if it gets too hot, I go civilian. (or don't go).
A (cotton) gauze chemise is not "period correct" for the other time I "do", "Rev. war/1700s-1800s".
So, for now, I will check the leads I have. Luckily I only need a lightweight chemise for 3 more events this year. (and if I had had a productive winter, I could've sewn myself one...but..)
HOpe you all are having a better summer. I hope to see some of you (watching Tartanic) next week in Livonia for St. Andrews' Highland Games.
Best, --Shannon ,
