Watch this NYS Senator's speech.

My favorite clips:
"I'm over the age of 40 and that's all you're going to get from me, but I have never been able to maintain a relationship of the length or the quality that Tom and Lewis have."

"That's what we've done to marriage in America .... People stand up there before god and man even in Senator Diaz's church, they swear to love honor and obey, they don't mean a word of it. So if there's anything wrong with or any threat to the sanctity of marriage in America, it comes from those of us who have the privilege and the right and have abused it for decades."

"We have nothing to fear from people who are committed to each other and want to share their lives and protect one another in the event of sickness, illness or death. We have nothing to fear from love and committment."

Rock on with yourself, sister! Why should heterosexuals have all the misery of marriage..... (tongue firmly planted in cheek)

While you're there check out some of the other videos.

My State Senator, Jeff Klein, especially listen when he talks about his grandmother:

I maintain that as long as Las Vegas exists in America, there is no argument that there is "sanctity" to protect.

When a couple can get married in a drive through by a guy dressed as a dead singer while ragingly drunk, I think we blew right past the deep spiritual meanings of the partnership

Yes, with the advent of the 55 hour marriage (thank you Britney Spears) the sactity of marriage certainly has taken a beating.
