(Verified issue not on snopes but news sites did show)

I know this is a sensitive topic, but this is just TOO invasive.

---------------------------------------------

An extreme anti-choice bill in Oklahoma puts politicians between women and their doctors.

Oklahoma's legislature passed a bill that prohibits a woman from getting an abortion unless she is shown an ultrasound image and listens to her doctor describe the ultrasound image in detail.
Take action to keep medical procedures and decisions between a woman and her doctor (http://www.care2.com/go/z/e/AFxrY/zkYO/btt6o)

As many as 22 other states currently have laws requiring ultrasound counseling, but none of them are as extreme as Oklahoma's.

The New York Times reported last week that right now, anti-choice extremists are enjoying "an unusually high number of victories" at the state level.

Take action to stop extremist politicians and protect the doctor-patient relationship (http://www.care2.com/go/z/e/AFxrY/zkYO/btt6o)

Ultrasound requirements like Oklahoma's profoundly intrude upon a patient's privacy and undermines a doctor's ability to give their patient the best medical care.

I wonder how many people will move out of state if this passes.

Many of the people affected by this probably can't afford to.

Misogynistic assholes. As someone who has had three UNWANTED but very very necessary terminations, it would have broken something inside me to be forced to look at and have a detailed description of the embryo prior to the procedure.

Luckily Missouri and Washington only say, "ok, well, x weeks so we're good" OR if you ask a specific question like "it's not twins, right?" they'll answer.

A video (2 parts) with a fairly nice overview of what OK is looking to do. Besides the ultra sound, there's the questionnaire that may be published online (no names though! like that means shitall). Another issue is a doctor giving an ultrasound may withhold information regarding the health of the fetus. This is designed to prevent termination of a pregnancy where the fetus shows signs of problems. Because really, it's not your choice now is it?
So... Lets bully, intimidate and terrorize a woman seeking abortion. Additionally lets lie to a woman regarding a health issue.

Also it looks like there is going to be litigation starting in July regarding this.

As someone who had to have just one I agree. It was heartwrenching as it was without the addition of this. This law is just cruel and heartless.

Kinda? It enrages me. RAGE. This is what we fight against, what we climb uphill for, what we write letters, make phone calls, build websites, carry signs and sign our names to lines for petitions. Rage.

Makes me wonder what those lawyer assholes are thinking.
