And on the subject of Pirates 2...an aquaitance of mine is working on set construction and stuff for it (in Alabama, I want to say, but not sure.) He'll be back in November...so I'll hopefully get some good stories then.

Well, my friend is back in town--I saw him briefly the other night out at the bar. Got a few tidbits out of him...as promised, here's what I've got so far...

They were filming in Alabama, for Pirates 2 and 3. Some very cool sets, he said...the Black Pearl, of course--they'd dive off the stern and go swimming during lunch breaks. There was another ship basically in 2 parts, called the Edinburgh (I think he said that was the name, the bar was noisy)--in one scene, a giant octopus comes up out of the ocean and tears the ship in two. He got to meet both Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom (lucky son of a bitch!)--he said Depp was pretty short, Bloom pretty tall.

That's about all I got--I'll be seeing him again probably in a few weeks, and he said he'd show me pictures then. I'll see if he'll let me scan some to post here.

Turns out he got back early...

Are they filming PIrates 2 and 3 simultaneously?

That's fun with any movie. I could point out just about every one in the Indiana Jones trilogy (and a good many in the BTTF trilogy)...but of course, the Indy flicks were designed after the B-grade Saturday morning serials of the 40's and 50's! My favorite is in Raiders, when they escape from the Well of Souls, and there's a random guy passed out outside (originally, Indy exits and knocks out the guy, but that scene was cut.) Even better is the fact that if you watch the shadow of the stone block he pushes out, it bounces!! :singdanc:

Here I go again, thread-jacking my own post...

That's funny! I always noticed him but I never gave much thought to why he was there.

You gotta' love the disappearing"X" on the floor of the library in Venice too! 8)

Yeah, that's a good one.

Then there's the fly that crawls into Belloq's mouth (when Jones has the bazooka trained at him and the Nazis on their way up to the altar site), and doesn't come back out! Yum.... :blech:

I was at comic con 2005 and not only did I get a free Pirates 2 poster with early art work, BUT one of the guys kinda let it slip that bootstrap bill is in one of the movies (hes who I think the artwork on my poster is of)

I also got to see VERY briefly when I went to Universal Studios Hollywood a part of the set they had filmed on for Pirates 2 and 3, but alas no filming was going on at the time being
