I just wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to our sister Ysobelle (aka Nikki) who lost her beloved kit-kat Marble today. Both Marble and her mama put up the good fight over the last year or so and while Nikki is mourning her faithful furkid tonight - I know Marble is sending her love back across the rainbow bridge. Rest in catnip Marble - we'll love your mama and watch over her for you.

G-d...thank you. Thank you so much. I've gotten so much support and love, and it's made all the difference in the world. I'm not actually holding it together too well, I think-- but then, I've not jumped off a bridge, either, so maybe I am. I failed miserably at trying to clean all the medicine out of the kitchen. Maybe tomorrow. The other cats-- well, one of them-- and the dog are looking after me.

Marble fought the good fight, but this last week, I just knew. She had a year no one thought she'd have, and all her vets called it a miracle, but her time just ran out.

Thank you.

I'm so sorry, Yso. She couldn't have asked for someone who loved her more. Can you imagine what your life would have been like if Marble had never come into it? Or the life she would have had without you? There was love there, and in the end that's all that matters

Damn. I'm so sorry. I know what it's like to work your ass off trying to save them for months on end. Fucking heartbreaking.

Thanks, everyone. I'm learning to listen to the grief this time, and give myself a break. When I lost my dog, Kayli, in 2002, I tried to power through it, and got really down on myself for being such a mess, which only makes it worse. This time, I'm more accepting. Pain is pain, and it's going to hurt for a while. There's no magic button, it takes as long as it takes, and that's okay. A hard lesson to learn, but useful.

A cat's bilirubin is supposed to be 1. 3 is considered very high. She lived for a year with a bilirubin of 8 to 9. No one knows how. I joke that it was the tuna she knew she'd get three times a day. I think she just had a very strong little cat soul. I'm staggered by how much I miss that quiet little presence. Your support has been an immeasurable help-- thank you.
