We're going to add another! Dying a cat pink is not what I call a "prank" it is what I would call cruel. I am just glad the dye is non-toxic.

Poor kitty.. but at least it was non-toxic, and the jack-ass didn't get any in her face. She probably didn't enjoy the dying process, though!

Its good that the dye used was non-toxic, but I have heard of pet owners dyeing their dogs and cats before. -.- Its odd, but it's not unheard of.

I am confused- if you bleach your cat add wisker extensions, shave them and cut thier ears & tail - its a cat show. Not to mention the dogs they made look like peacocks & lions.

If you use non- toxic dye and add color during a bath you are horrible? In LA we see poodles dyed to match outfits all the time. During halloween i see many "skunks" made of cats like in the cartoons.

I have seen a cute "leapard" made of a yellow cat. It grows out.

Upon visiting an art museum once (this was several years ago) I saw a book in the gift shop of "artistic" cats... people had taken non-toxic paints and painted their cats - and I'm not just talking about adding spots. Everything from solid-color to plaids, argyle, purple with green stripes, etcetera etcetera ... even some replicas of very well known artwork. (Van Gogh on four paws anyone?) It was gorgeous artwork, but it was kinda weird seeing it all over cats!! :snicker:

I would just hate having been the one to hold the cat still while it was being painted... (Of course, if the brush strokes felt like grooming, maybe it wasn't too bad...)

In Japan it's all the rage to decorate your dogs for dog shows - they have a category for it. Closer to home - there is a couple around here who have two standard-size poodled - one black and one white. Every year for faire they decide on a theme for the year and have the dogs' fur cut and groomed into anything from dragons to fairy-tale characters and then various parts of the fur dyed accordingly. These two dogs actually seem to like their 'dos and strut around quite proudly while people snap pictures and children rush to pet them.

My 7-lb weiner dog already looks like a paintbox of browns threw up on her - I'm just going to add a costume that matches or complements mine for "Hounds of Canterbury" weekend - week after next.

You wanna talk about "sick pranks"? Read ANY of the stories on Snipe's .org's website. This? This isn't even a blip on the radar. She put food colouring in the bath when she washed her cat. Yay for her. It's kinda cute and the cat doesn't give a damn. Next?

(Not you, RF. The over-the-top hysterics in the media is what annoys the crap out of me.)

OMG - Is this for real? This is absolutely heinous - these people need to have their bodies modified - I'm thinking castration with a rusty, dull knife.

No. No, no, no, no, no. Bonsai Kittens are an internet hoax.

I'm with you. Then again I thought the cat looked awesome in pink.

Did you hear they took the word "gullible" out of the dictionary?

Well I didn't know the coloring was food-coloring (from the first article I initially thought they had used hair dye for human beings). For me personally when it comes to animal grooming, hair cut, nails trimmed, ok. But at the same time I don't think pets should be fashion statements, and that includes dying the fur. Just can't see why you would want to cover a gorgeous pattern - but then again this is just me and I can understand why people might want to dye their pets... (well part of me does I think)

Also - when bonsai kittens first appeared I thought it was real and freaked... then there was a news report on it XD I think that was on middle or high school

Just to set the record straight, I'm not so much gullible as completely out-of-touch with pop culture - sick or otherwise. I do, however, spend a lot of my time watching the Discovery Health channel and wouldn't be at all squeemish about performing body modification surgery with rusty, dull implements on evil doers. LOL

Jeez... my mom used to have her Standard Poodle dyed pink at the groomers all the time. Can't figure out why the Brits would make such a big whoopie-do over a domestic pet dyed an un-natural color. If they were so worried as to whether it was a toxic chemical they could have run a few tests on a little snip of fur and that should have answered everything. But how it got over into someone else's yard is what makes me curious. If she loved it as much as she claims, it should have been at home and not running the streets. PINK OR NOT!

Now this one's different... Friend at work has dozens of pix from a show she went to in Vegas a year or 2 ago. Her daughter is a professional dog groomer and goes to all the trendy shows.
If I can figure out how to get the other 2 to load I post them here. And the dogs are dyed too with harmless food coloring.
BINGO!
