So, I'm planning on getting married in the St. Louis area in October. Still looking for a venue for approximately 200 people. Need something for the wedding, and something for the reception. Not interested in churches (I pick up too many vibes) or some of the bingo halls (unless non-smoking). Everything also needs to be handicapped accessable. Any ideas?

I'm also looking at bridesmaid dresses. Does anyone have any recommendations?

If you wanted to go completely and totally unconventional, there is always The City Museum. http://citymuseum.org/site/?p=120

Many places in Forest Park are great in the spring and summer; October could be OK, or could be terrible. Some years October is in the 60's, some years St Louis has snow already. Have seen many weddings at the Zoo (which is in Forest Park) same problem.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forest_Park_%28St._Louis,_Missouri%29 But at least its free!

Lots of people get married in St Charles, which is right over the (Missouri) river. It has numerous Lewis and Clerk sites and maintains an old fashioned charm, complete with horse drawn carriages and cobblestone and brick streets. http://www.stcharlescitymo.gov/Visitors/AttractionsandEntertainment/tabid/283/Default.aspx Ameristar Casino is near downtown right on the River- they would be easily able to host a reception. But the casino area is rife with cigarette smoke. And has a different "weird vibe"- but the restaurants are nice.

About an hour north of St Louis is The Village of the Blue Rose. The B&B there has excellent food; it is all run by kids with special needs; I get the same waiter every time we go. http://www.villagebluerose.org/ Great eagle viewing in the winter! Would not be able to handle 200 guests, but is a nice B&B to stay at for say... the wedding party or honeymooners, or what have you.

St Louis Pirate Fest is often at the end of September, if you want your wedding date moved and smothered with pirates. Yarrr!

There must be a hundred places around that would be great for a wedding. We no longer live there, so cannot help with the ground work, but feel free to pick my brains anytime.
