Does anyone know anything about this hobby? I am working on Haunakah gifts for my BIL - he's started building his first ship/boat/whatever, and I'd love to get him something useful. I'm not sure what he has in way of equipment, but there must be some thing(s) that is always needed ... I'm a quilter myself, and I know I can always use more fabric *grin*! I've found a specialtiy magazine that I am going to get him a subscription for, and a gag gift - a book of paper boats that you can make up in a few minutes (they even really float!). I'd like to spend $30-40 more, and that'd do it for him this year. Any suggestions?

And before you ask, he and his wife got a queen sized quilt with matching pillow shams last year - NO ONE is getting a quilt this year, I'm on strike!
Thanks!

*nods*
My hubby does this for a hobby and a home based business. My home is FULL of supplies for this (and add my garb/scrapbooking/drawing) and.. well clutter is something we live with.

But I digress....

I would say if you wanted to get specific things... you could ask. Each model kit has very specific paint colors. (maybe a gift card to a local hobby shop)

If he is serious about the painting an air brush is a lovely addition to one's supplies.

Maybe a subscription to " fine scale modeler' you may need to find an existing copy in a hobby shop to order this.

Glue.. then again many like a very 'specific' kind.

If he is focusing on .. let's say WW2.. maybe a resource book about that era.

Hope this helps
