Has anyone heard anything about the new on-line D&D game? From what I heard it's supposed to be a cross between EverQuest and Neverwinter Nights. What I can't seem to find is a release date. Someone told Dave that it was going live this week, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Anyone know anything?

They're doing beta testing for it right now. What I've heard about it is it's truer to 2nd ed D&D. The design is more like a 1st person shooter than EverQuest or WoW and it's not an easy game.

There was some talk about a special gaming mouse, but it was new years eve and I was already well on my way to drunk. I don't remember much more than that it sounded interesting, but not a game you could play for a few minutes or an hour then walk away. Also, you *have* to have a group to survive.

A friend has teh beta... she says it sucks... much less intuitive than WoW or Eq... and movement of cartoons is bad...

they should have made it in Faerun not in Eberron...

Oh well...

Ack! I hadn't heard it was set in Eberon. Damn...I like Faerun much better. Oh well. Dave's gonna try it either way, so I'll just let him try it first and see how it is. :)

I just played it this past weekend. How to describe it, complicated. Its allot like Everquest in many aspects. To liking it, I am not sure.

Its on preorder sale right now but they are hoping for a 2\28\06 release.

I will have to see what the monthly subscription is before I decided.

Here is a link for the site.

I understand *why* they made it Eberron... They can do stuff in a new world and define things and not step on toes...

But people would play a shit game just to play and meet characters like Elminster and D'rzzt...

hells bells, I'm still playing Baldur's Gate II.

Although I may give DDO some time to work out the bugs, then give that a try.

I still love BGII. :)

David picked up DDO the other day -- but his computer's too slow to run it properly...the lag is terrible. It looks cool, but playing is not working too well at the moment. *grr* Guess it's time for a new 'pewter.

Most people seem to really not like DDO, which is sad really.

I am waiting for Vanguard. :toocool:

Hubby and I have been playin since Headstart. Its interesting, kind of a mix of EQ, CoX and unique. Its not a simple grind type game, but a strategy game that you can get into for 15 minutes or 15 hours.

We are on the Xorait server if anyone picks it up and is looking for a few friendly people.

I played for awhile. It was great the first few levels and then it got old real fast. My fiance loves it though, he's a serious gamer and apprecaites the diversity of the game. You actually have to have a strategy. You just can't click to attack, you have to know what you're doing. But he's also a DM in an Eberron campaign so it works for him I guess.
