I'll be at KCRF for sure--doing what, or how often is still a question, as life and work may interfere with my play! I'm sure daBaroness and Mental Pause will be there--and I certainly hope we'll be seeing the Texas invasion on Labor Day weekend? (Hint hint--KCRF opens on my birthday this year!)

Update on the Nebraska city faire:
Rumor has it the group that is producing this new faire (this is the first year) is restricting it to Italian Renaissance only. No other presonna will be allowed past the gates, period Italian garb only. Absolutly no fantasy garb. According to some of the members they consider themselves a teaching group. I for one don't plan to attend if I cant wear garb and there are very few vendors attending (only 12-15 made the cut, most did not meet with the exacting standards of the commitee; i.e. no more than one vendor selling an item, no 'non-italian period' items. More like a pay-at-the-gate demo or living history event than a fair. *sigh* Not worthe 5 bucks to me.
Boooring. Doubt this one will see more than a one year run.
The Upside is there will be a Beltane celebration the same weekend. There is always the Neb ren faire in May. Much fun to be had there.

I am not sure where Rowen got their information but it is wildly incorrect.
False - Period Italian garb only is allowed. Any wishing to attend in garb are more than welcome as long as it is appropriate to the late Middle Ages/Renaissance.
True - Vendors are not allowed to sell fantasy items
True - We are a teaching group and will lecture/discuss history with anyone wishing to learn. We will also help develop or produce shows for any period as long as there is some historical relevance.
False - only 12 - 15 made the cut, most did not meet the exacting standards of the committee. The only standards I enforce is that people manufacture the majority of the items they wish to sell. Weapons dealers are the exception as most who make there own are too high priced for the general public. I did limit the number of each type of vendor so the Faire would not be "unbalanced". Who wants to go to a Faire with 27 leather vendors and one jeweler?
False - Booring. That is unless you don't enjoy sword fighting/comedy (Shattock Schoole of Defense), Pirate witicism (The Scallywags), Exotic dancers (Danza Mystic), and Sword fighting instruction and demos (Nebraska Sword Fighter's Guild).
All who attended today April 29, enjoyed themselves. Many stated they plan on returning April 30. For a first time Festival we are doing quite well.
I would like to invite this Rowen and or his/her source out to the Festival April 30, in garb or not.

Hey Rowen - Nebraska City is on board for next year. I hope you will be able to attend. In fact I would love for you to be a street character. Let me know what you think. Regards, Andy.

The Renaissance Faire of the Midlands has changed hands and is now the Midwest Renaissance Festival and is now located at Scary Acres in Omaha. The date has changed as well and I'm not sure if it has been decided for next year.
There is also a Pirate Fest that is in the works for the Omaha Metro area, at the Bellevue Berry Patch. It was kind of rough this year but there are hopes that it will do much better in the years to come.
