EXCUSE ME --- but how in the world could they even think of going out of country to have kilts made for the military???? :kiltdanc:
That just seems so wrong on sooooooo many levels.
Granted, I don't have a drop of Scots blood in me (in my heart of hearts, I'm 1/2 Scots) but how can a Scotman not wear a kilt made in his home country?
I understand the mitilary is in debt (and what country isn't :irked: )
but to take something that is so........ what's the word I'm looking for?........ and have a foreigner make it (probably China) is just WRONG !!!
ok, I'm getting off my

I'm with ya, Bux. This all seems somewhat sacrilegious...
Btw, I don't think I have Scots blood in me (hubby's 1/2 Scot, though), but, like you, my heart identifies with Scotland. Hmmm, I'm discovering, though, through some research that it's probable I have Celtic blood in me by way of Galicia & Leon, Spain...

Afraid I disagree girls.
First off...they've only put the contract up for bid. It's not guaranteed it's going to end up out of country.
Second...quotes in the article like ""The kilts are clearly going to be sub-standard." are being made by the guy who's losing the contract and is just bitter. He has no way of knowing the work will be "sub-standard."
Lastly (and maybe most important)...it's the taxpayers that pay for them. If putting the contract up for bid can save taxpayers some money then it's a good thing for everyone.

I'm just making with the funny. If I had an opinion on the actual port matter I would have posted it on the thread about it.
I will say however that one should not confuse "ally" and "friend". They aren't necessarily the same thing.
