I'm so sorry, guys! I just heard GPRF is toast. I can only hope that whatever rises from ist ashes will be more amenable to Wenches. A faire without Wenches just isn't a faire.
My sympaathies, though. Please come see us at PARF. Please?
I soooooooooooo love karma. Dave was an a$$hat.

Thanks everyone. I worked there for the past 3 years, was not planning on returing as cast this year, but as a vendor, but it is still a hard pill to swallow. I am planning on coming to PARF, and any other faire that I can get to. I still need a fix. :) It's just a sad, sad thing to know.

Dave the owner of the faire is just a wholely unfair and mean spirited guy. He over charged, under paid, never had very good facilities, and even tried to rip off cast members in the past few years. Also, He wouldn't allow the Wenches to do ANYTHING on his site. He actually had it out with our local madame for icing down and giving gatorade to the cast. I'm not the best to tell that whole story, as I'm partial to her, especially since she kept me from passing out when I was a new cast member.
He's just a jerk.

That was absolutely my very first thought.
My second was: YAY! No more faire that bans Wenches!
This is where I read more. Okay, technically, I got the link on the Pgh Goth List, so THAT'S where I found out, but this was the link given:

There wasn't enough karmic retrobution in the world to even out Dave. He was such a ..........................

words fail me at the moment (well, non-swear words that is)............
I do feel bad about the cast and vendors. I certainly hope the vendors get their fees back, but knowing Dave, he will claim he used the fees to try and keep the faire going.
I have been hearing rumors for the past 2 years that the faire was in trouble; I guess Dave is supposed to pay somebody each year for the "rent" of the land and hadn't paid it, promised to pay what was overdue from the next year's profits, and then didn't make any profits.
I guess that's what happens when you don't provide any places for patrons to sit and eat, seek shelter from the sun up top, and serve all the food "on a stick" so people have to keep moving. Nobody wants that crap. It's part of the ambiance of faire to sit and watch, take a moment to hang out under a tree, amble along the trails and paths; but nooooooooo, not in Dave's world. He took away all the hay bales near the food areas and you wouldn't find any benches along pathways. The only places to sit were at the stages.
Feh! I'll spend my money at a faire that actually appreciates their patrons......

This would have been our 11th year (our 11th year not the festival's)... I'm sure going to miss not being there this year! :-( Hopefully somebody will reopen it for next year. I'm sure going to miss some of the people there. :sigh:
Yes, I hope that someone does buy it and reopens it next year. It's a nice site, it just needs someone who really loves faire..............

Well I don't have any funds to offer, but I have 4 slave-boys to work for free...
C'mon y'all - we can do this! ::badhair:
Heather is on a committee of about 8 people who are trying to come up with the money and ideas for the faire........... maybe we could have the mother of all bakesales? Car wash? Garb sale?

are there any grant writers in your local?
that might be an option....
anyhow, i have $18.63 to chip in, plus a headfull of fundraising ideas
Well, if we could buy it, we could incorporate and sell stock........ that would raise cash for operations. Besides, with all the connections in the guilds and such, we could probably fill vendor/cast in a hurry! How cool would it be to have you're own personal faire??!!!!!!!

From all I've gathered about him over the years, it's FAR better to get rid of him entirely and start fresh, if at all possible.
I know the rough asking price of the faire, however, you only own the buildings, not the land underneath them. It's my understanding that the faire rents the land in some capacity and the landowner isn't looking to sell the site to the faire itself, but doesn't mind the faire being there. I also heard that it's going to be put up on ebay........

I'm also on the committe trying to save the faire. Things are still in the very delicate state. We cannot sell stock because of the type of business it would have to be, I don't mean to be a nay-sayer... We all appreciate all of the support that we are recieving from all avenues. Currently we have a lot of people who are willing to help physically, but not monitarily, and until we have solid money and a place to put it, there's not much that can be done. We are working on those aspects currently. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions or thoughts on the subjects, please PM me. Thanks!

Prolly not... It's not a small business... It's at least a 1/2 million a year endeavor

A wench owned faire would be a neat idea! At least it would be run right since it would be run by women! ;) I've got a couple of $$ I could throw in!
Like I said, we need to have the mother of all bakesales!!!!!!!!!
