Oh - not bad, bad, terrible. However, I did have to employ my Wenchly skills....

Brief dirt.....

I-75

82 mph

cop

Playing dumb (Oh I did not realize how fast I was going...)

ticket for only 5 miles over.

$90

No points

I was telling Biker there about it this morning and he said he was going to come on and post that I got arrested after a run in with a cop just to see how many calls I would be getting. I laughed, double dog dared him and then went and turned off my phone! *snerf*. So the 'bad' part is that I am out $90. Got to flirt with a cute cop too. Too bad he had to take off after another person who was breaking the law. He was cute - and had handcuffs.....

Going to court because a cop has been stupid is the worst! One year I hit some black ice on a loopy off ramp, totalled my car. 2 other cars hit the black ice, and the guard rail and wound up in the ditch minutes after my accident. The cop wound up closing the off ramp because it was unsafe...then he gave all of us tickets (via mail since he couldn't come up with anything we'd done wrong right off the bat) for inattentive driving...INATTENTIVE DRIVING..because I didn't see the black ice...which is called black ice because it's the same color as the road and you can't see it!!!! GGGAAAARRRR!!! The judge almost laughed when she heard the case. I got out of paying for the ticket, but was on probation for two years with the ticket haunting me if I had any other dings in my record.

/digs out the 'helpful literature' included with her speeding ticket...

The fines range from $85 to $120. You only need to go to court if you are caught speeding over 86 mph on I-75 or doing 21 or over on any other road. The fines for other infractions can go higher, the highest being $255 for passing a school bus that has it's flashing lights on.

Arte, just how fast were you going?

Man, I wish I had gotten my speeding ticket where you live. I got $160 for going 15 over, and 4 points.

My daughter got stopped in Liberty, NY.

The cop said she was doing 87 in a 55! Sorry but, I was talking to her on her cell (yes, she was hands free) and giving her directions. She had just come onto the highway when he turned on his lights. By the time she went to court for it, they dropped it to a non-point violation and a total of $125 fine, including state surcharges. Needless to say, she's one lucky little girl.

52 in a 35 (residential), only 17 miles over the limit. I guess things are tougher here in Upstate New York.

Luckily, I got a cool officer. Since I didn't have any "priors", he dropped the speeding ticket to "non-operational speedometer". Cost me $95, but no points on my license.

He was also the class clown. He brought out two reams of copy paper and told one kid, "Okay, you have to take this home and write an essay about the dangers of speeding." Another instance, he asked a person their name and informed everyone that she was "one of his regulars."

I was doing 50 in a 35 in a residential, and the cop was a jerk, so I didn't bother going to court. Dare I ask why the guy had been sitting at a red light for 10 minutes?
