Okay, So I'm in a Hotel room with no fridge and no microwave. My food choices are the "free continental" breakfast and resturants. 2 weeks of buying my food can reduce one's spending money rather quickly. So I went to the local grocery store & bought a bunch of fresh fruit and a cooler.

So here is my recipe for my Hotel Room Salad:

Bunch of grapes (I used green seedless)
Blueberries (about a handful & a half)
Blackberries
Honey Dipped Almonds (about half the bag)
Raspberry/Cranberry/Walnut Salad topping (about half the bag)
Ranier & Bing Cherries (about 7 of each. Pitted & sliced into quarters)
Strawberries (about 5 sliced)

Mix well with plastic spoon in disposable bowl. At this point you can also consider using the ice bucket for mixing/tossing the fruit. Just make sure that you clean it out before using.

You can eat salad as is or you can add your favorite dressing (cream cheese fruit dip or yogurt fruit dip). Any remainding fruit will need to be placed back into ice cooler before you leave room for the day.

Enjoy!!!

That looks teh yum!!
If we put our minds to it, I bet we could whip up a Hotel Room Cookbook, LOL...and if your room comes with a minibar...woot!

The salad was a great break in the food options provided when traveling. Note to anyone traveling to the North, avoid White Castle. I've learned a valuable lesson. They are not called "Sliders" for nothing. I should have stuck to the fruit salad instead of "FAST food". I didn't have a mini bar, but since mini bottles of booze are sold in almost every store, you can make many variations of the salad. (The Mini Bottles are not sold in Texas, some Blue Law makes it illegal).

When I was staying in a hotel near Dallas this past Memorial Day, I made a "Cesar" and fruit salad as well. Instead of iceburg lettuce, I bought fresh spinach leaf, some fresh fruit (I really like the berries: Blueberries, Raspberries, Strawberries, Blackberries). I made a fresh fruit salad with some "King's Nuts" bought from faire and the afore mentioned berries. The Spinach, I added seasoned crutons, mixed parmesean and romano cheese (shredded), cherry tomatoes (no need to cut), I bought a 1/4 pound of turkey breast & chopped that up and mixed everything together. I used some Cesar salad dressing and added a bit more ranch dressing and had a fantastic meal. I made multiple salads for the 4 days that I was in that hotel (I had a fridge & a microwave) and made sandwiches as well.
