OK, I wanted to have a fundraiser for a local women's organization. So I called one up and told them I wanted to give them money. I got no response. Then I picked a different one, and e-mailed them telling them I wanted to raise money for them. I got no response. I tried a third organization, and yet again, got no response.
I then decided we need a Charities Officer {Yes, I cleared the idea through proper channels}.
What this person will be doing is contacting non-profit organizations so that when we come up with a fundraising idea, we have already been cleared to use their name to raise them some money. She will also be keeping all letters written to us from said organizations saying how wonderful we are because we raised XXX amount of money for them. {Yes, of course Dranaan will also have these letters cuz they make us look good}
For right now I think this can be handled by one person. Darcy from CT has graciously agreed to be my vict...uh volunteer for this job. If any other Local Madams feel they would like their very own, then great. Instead of one officer, we can have a committee. No reason not to. The only thing I ask is that they all keep in contact with Darcy, as she will be in charge of the nationwide data base for the organizations we have a rapport with.
If anyone has any suggestions for organizations they would like to contribute our fundraising money to, please e-mail Darcy at mercwench*spam*@hotmail.com {take out the obvious in the addy}. Just keep in mind that we want to keep the organizations neutral. No political or religious ties. Nothing that is controversial.
