Normally I wouldn't post anything like this. But, I was a bit disturbed by a Woman's response: "Kim Gladney, 25, who lives in the complex, said she heard 10 shots ring out.
"After the first five, I knew something was wrong," she said as she stood just beyond the police barricades. "It just didn't sound good."
I'm sorry, but if I hear any gunshots anywhere where I live I'm calling the police. Why would anyone think that gunshots in a residential neighborhood would be "good" as long as there were less than 5 at a time?!?!?:unamused: ::tinfoil: :ow: This just makes me so concerned about our society.

Oh, you'd be surprised. I have a friend who lives not far from me in West Philly. When he first moved in, he said that whenever he heard gunshots, he grabbed the cat and the phone and jumped into his very old, very heavy steel bathtub-- just in case. After a few years, though, he said it had to be gunshots and prolonged screaming.
I've finally decided to move the hell out of this complex, myself. The night before faire opened, last week, I heard three shots in my parking lot. Turns out some random fuck opened fire on my neighbour's car. Shattered her windows, and ransacked the car. Just because.
I'm so out of here.
LOL
It's all in your perspective - when I first met the hubby, the neighborhood we were living in, it wasn't a Saturday night without gunshots!

As the mother of a deputy sheriff, I have heard stories you wouldn't believe. She has worked from upper/upper class to homeless in cardboard boxes. It doesn't matter where or who anymore. Guns and bad people are everywhere. I so worry for the safety of my future grandkids.

Heh, well, being a resident of Prince Georges County Maryland, I must say. 1-2 shots is the norm. After five, I agree. Something's not right.
(Remember to duch and cover after the first shot, by the way.)

Same in my neighborhood. We learned that, even with two gangs living on opposite corners of the same block, and a drug house on another corner, gun shots were the norm. Cops didn't come out until the third or fourth call that night, and it was probably just a noise violation. The cops still never come to our neighborhood, even though it has cleaned up somewhat since then.

I live in the country and have a gun club a half mile away.
I hear shots all the time....... some from my own backyard.
