Oh dont worry... Im sure someone will have a bad reaction (allergic or take the med inproperly) and get sent to the ER the it will be splashed all over the news and the Reglious Reich will scream "We told you this would happen" and it will get pulled compleatly from circulation pending "testing" and will never be seen again...
someone save this post and look it up in a year and see if I'm right or just pessimistic. ;)

But opponent Wendy Wright, president of Concerned Women for America, said Plan B's wider availability could give women a false sense of security, since it isn't as effective as regular birth control. Wright also worries that adult men who have sex with minor girls could force the pills upon them.
*sigh*
Dear Wendy,
I understand your concerns re: the morning after pill and it providing women with a false sense of security. I would like to propose a new approach to addressing this problem: EDUCATION. A radical new idea for a group that relies largely on rhetoric and here-say to inform people about the issues women face. But let's give it the old college try, shall we? thanks!

and something tells me that older men who have sex with young girls aren't the sort who care if the child gets pregnant or not. just a thought.

totally OT:
I work at a casino. One of the in-house restaraunts is named "Ruthie's Steakhouse", which we all refer to as "Ruthie's"...except with all the ambient game and waterfeature noise, it *always* sounds like "Roofies"....I have to supress the urge to twitch when I hear it....

Education? What a novel idea--get them girl children some schoolin in 'em! And make it a little more than just Abstinence is best, because teens will be teens and they think with their hormones more than their brains.
Gah. What's better, prevent pregnancy, or get an abortion. Hmmm...let me think....

While I agree with your final statement, that prevention is better than abortion, isn't "teens will be teens" part of the problem when it comes to mindset? Just like "boys will be boys" is not a valid excuse, neither is "teens will be teens." They think with their hormones because they aren't taught to think with their heads. I realize that there always was and always will be teen pregnancy, but the teen pregnancy rate was not always this high, and with all of the stuff available nowadays, even without abortion, it shouldn't be. If the teen pregnancy rate a hundred years ago was a heck of a lot less, with less available to prevent the pregnancy in the first place, I have to think that something is wrong with the idea the teens are getting. Education is still key, of course.

Absolutely it shouldn't be. And if my teenage son came to me or my husband and stammered and blushed that he needed condoms, you bet your sweet bippy they;d be in his hot little hands.
That said--my mom was one of the smartest women I ever knew, my dad is highly intelligent, well educated, calm, sober, and sensible. And guess what? They got pregnant waaay back in 1960. My older sister was born the day after my mom turned seventeen. I
'm a smart cookie, and I had sex when I was 16. I was also smart enough to make sure we used protection every single time.
We can educate and teach about abstinence and the wisdom therof (both in avoiding pregnancy and STDs) and unless you are literally with them 24 hours a day, some teens are going to give in to their hormones. I'd much, much rather pay for emergency contraception than an abortion and I think refusing to authorize this for younger women is one of the cruelest things I ever heard.

Note--it's already happened. Women believed the pills would be more effective if inserted vaginally instead of taking them orally, and got seriously ill.(RTFM, people!!!)
