Wow, interesting to see what I COULD be saving, in cold hard cash as well as emissions...I signed the petition! 8-)

The only problem I have with the site, is the fact that it tells me my truck gets only 10mpg, but could get 16mpg if the manufacturing standards were different. The thing is my truck gets between 14 and 16 mpg right now. I check it regularly.
The biggest thing I need to help my mpg get even better is about 20 helium balloons tied to my right foot.;-)

Thanks Nikki.... signed, sealed, delivered.
EDITED:
My Ford F150 4X4 was pretty accurate but our Suzuki Forenza, they were off.
I do get between 15-19 MPG on the truck. The Suzuki, I can get 440+ miles per 14 gal. tank.

That was interesting. I, likewise, found my MPG was way off. The site said my car gets 23mpg, when in fact it gets 38 (and it would optimally get 40 so it's not far off!)

All veeeeeeery interesting, but don't care. Gas in Southern CT in coming down. Right now there is a war between the gas stations and we're down to $3.02/gal with what looks like more of the same down scaling. Of course in towns like Darien and Greenwich with all the $$money$$ the prices are still up to $3.35. It pays sometimes to live in a blue collar town.
One station lowered it's prices and then they all started. Love how that works!!
O I remember the days when I filled my VW bug with $4.05 and drove for almost a month or going into the gas station for "$1.00 worth" or better yet .50 and still driving for a week on it. Gone are the days.

It's dropping here too...went from 3.28 to 2.89 in about 3 weeks. My car wasn't listed either, and it's a 99 Saturn SL2. Apparently Saturn only makes 5 models....

In Spring Tx (just a bit North of Houston) we have it as low as $2.44.
And I head about $2.38 a little more North of Spring.

hare at Ft Knox we're at 2.59$
Yep, unfortunately they only list the newer models of Saturns, not the old SL, SC, and SW models, they don't even list the midsize sedan that's only been out for 6 or so years.............
My 1998 SL still gets about 38-40 on the highway, but kinda depressing when driving around town, although I don't do much driving except for those long faire trips (1300 miles 2 weeks ago!!).

Hmm, neither of our cars are on there.. a 2001 Pontiac Aztek and a 2000 Dodge Intrepid ES.. bah.
I KNOW what is killing my gas mileage. Washington state. I could get about 350 miles on a 16 gallon tank in Kansas..moved here and I'm lucky if I break 300... stupid hills

Thats good news to me. We are driving home to Houston this weekend. The gas in Shreveport LA is around 2.69-2.59 depending on where you fill up. I was so worried about costing a small fortune to drive home. If it comes down just a little more it will be about 50.00 for us to drive to Houston and Back.

Uh, guys? How much gas costs right now is beside the point.
No matter what the cost of gas is-- and we KNOW it's going to go back up at some point-- you'll still be paying a lesser percentage if mileage standards are improved. Also, and just as importantly, more efficient cars burning less fossil fuel means a cleaner environment for us and our kids.
You have to take the long view, here.

Forgive me if I just don't trust information put out by the Sierra Club. They tend to skew their facts a bit and blur things to make them look the way they want them to look.

I know - I'm looking at those cars that burn the corn oil or green oil or fried oil. Whatever kind of oil it is that grows in the fields of Ohio, you know the replenishable kind. My boss drives a hybrid Lexus and loves it.
But the gas price is coming down, Yso!! You just gotta get excited about it.

Personally, since i cant really go and change my cars right now:
I drive less.. and carpool as much as possible ( even when not convienient)
I change my air filter( or clean it if i cant afford one )
I get my oil changed
and keep pressure in my tires...
I do what i can...
and after that... give me grace:)
ps-- Bux.. mine is a 1973 MGB,,, one of the last years of the chrome bumpers.... I will see if ican find a pic. It was our get away car for the wedding:)

Yeah, I have noticed that too. When driving on the interstate, I get great gas mileage, but man, driving around town blows.
I was so used to driving at least 20 miles to work when I lived in PA, now it's less than 2 miles to the mall from my house, I could ride a bike if I wanted. At least I still get the bump when I'm on the road. Next trip is to PA faire, NY to see family and back to VA over a 7 day period.

i know, but it was the only state i could think of that has field of waving grain left. i remeber the last time i drove through ohio i drove for what seemed like 14 hours and never left a corn field. it was a long time ago, is it still like that. cool if it is. you can drive through my town and hardly see a tree.

heh.... you should all come visit me!
My house is literally surrounded by corn fields right now!
The funniest thing is, watching city people come to the farmers markets and BUY corn stalks for decorating. *rotfl*

I believe that you're talking about Ethanol. It's made from corn.
It's *BIG POLITICS* out here in Iowa. We have *plenty* of fields of 'waving grain', as do all the other breadbasket states in the mid-west.
There's a joke in PA to the effect that you know when you've crossed over into Ohio b/c all the trees just stop ;o)

even better are the people who pay $4 for four ears of corn at the supermarket, when you can get them a dollar a dozen at the farms!
shoot, come time to close up at the farmers market, they *give* the stuff away just b/c they don't want to take it back home with them.
