The Beautiful and Smart Lady Sarah is once again correct.
My Sis had her third little bundle of dirty diaper creation on August 11th. I was there for the 2nd or 3rd diaper yet to grace his butt. Yes, Tarry was a very accurate description.
If you think about it what the baby is still digesting for the first several hours is what is still in his system from the umbilical cord and maybe some milk or formula . . . .
Until they get to more solids in the diet, the gifts left in a diaper do not look like mini versions of what we leave in the toilet.

If you read the article carefully, it says it is "a bronze cast depicting her first solid stool." As in, not her first poop, but the first SOLID one. So it would be accurate. And by the time the child is old enough to have a solid one, it is possible that they could poop that much, as well.

Doesn't make it any less disgusting.

There's some artist (can't remember where he is) that created a piece of art called "Cloaca." This thing is a machine that simulates the digestive system, entry-end to exit. A gourmet chef prepares 3 meals a day, and "feeds" them to this machine. It goes through "digestion", and is then excreted in the form of nice neat turds. These turds are then sold for fairly large sums of money as souveniers.

I shit you not. (Bad pun intended.)

Hell, I'll take whatever people will pay me for my shit, and they don't even have to travel to some art exhibit to get it!

And even if it wasn't that, it's been reported that Suri's a breast-fed baby -- stools from a breast-fed infant, especially one that young (as 'first poop' would imply) are very watery.
