How long before names start leaking out to the media as 'news'...

BOSTON --Health care providers for HIV patients in Massachusetts will now be required to give their patients' names to state authorities for the purpose of more accurately monitoring the number of cases.

Department of Public Health spokeswoman Donna Rheume said the DPH board voted unanimously Tuesday to enact the new regulations after the federal Centers for Disease Control threatened to withhold about $15 million in annual funding. Rheume said the information will be stored in a databank accessible by only a limited number of state health professionals.

"Those names will be kept at the Department of Public Health and will not be released," Rheume said.
Health care providers already are required to turn over the names of AIDS patients to the state. Under the old regulations, HIV cases were reported using a code that kept the patients' names a secret. Rheume said the policy change will prevent duplication in counting and record-keeping.

And just think what's going to happen when we get socialized medicine? The Feds will be obtaining everyone’s medical records. If you thought getting something through with the insurance company is bad, wait until you have to deal with the Federal bureaucracy. It’s going to be just like Canada, you’ll die before you the necessary surgery. But not to worry, the Congress has already passed a law to exclude them from any form of Socialized medical coverage. Yes sir, they’re going to be free to retain any doctor they want any time they want, while the rest of us can expect a 10 year prison sentence for doing the exact same thing. If you’re lucky, the doctor who tried to help you will be your cell mate, since he/she is going to get the same sentence.

Like any computer is secure.................... this is just another way to discriminate against a segment of society.

So they have been "blackmailed" into giving the names. What's next?

Oh privacy, how overrated! I'd much rather share my problems which could cause serious repercussions with the state, which is the most trustworthy institution out there, and their obviously superior computer system. It's not like anything bad will come of this.

Give it a few years and everyone HIV positive will be wearing bracelets. Tracking bracelets.

Don't worry, it will be so much better under socialized medicine. If you need a surgery, you’ll get to spend months and endless forms explaining why you need the surgery; and then be denied because you have HIV and are going to die anyway. Or better yet, if your in your late 60’s early 70’s and need a hip replacement because your in constant pain; there will be no need to have the surgery. You can get reduced rate pain pills, but since statistically you’re going to die in a few years, there’s no sense in spending the money for surgery.

If you think I’m kidding, the second scenario I presented would have been the actual result had Hillerycare been enacted all those years ago.
