I am passing along a warning to all that have booths at faire or otherwise.
Put this name on your "no=no" list.
Dionne I Olsen
She bought almost $55.00 of wonderful stock from our booth at Big Bear Renaissance Faire on 8/20/06. She used a Credit Card. Id was checked.
She now claims "she wasn't there". :unamused:
Guess who might be taking pictures of customers now- LOL
I have heard of other booths having issues with everything from bad checks down, Maybe we should all start a formal list!
Do you have a signed credit slip? If you do, it's up to her to prove it's not her signature. Also a good idea is to put some of her ID info on your credit slips........

atually, you can't put id info on credit card slips here. They made it illigal for privacy issues. Also the burden of proof is on the merchant not the customer.
great for most people but some take advantage....

Here in AZ one of the vendors took peoples photo's when they needed ID, so they would take a photo with them and the credit card and their ID to keep on file.

What about those finger print pads they have at banks?

If a merchant wanted to take and keep my picture when I made a purchase I'd find a different merchant.

I'd be fine with someone checking my id, and then maybe writing down the ID that was seen on the slip since you can't actually write down the information.
I know if a vendor tried to take my photo for any other reason than they wanted it to show what I bought to someone else, I think I'd have a problem with it. I'd much rather someone writing down my license number.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. Now, I would think that a thumb print would be ok, even with privacy issues. The one that I have with my notary stuff doesn't leave the client with a black thumb, but as a safe guard it's a good thing to have. If someone gives you grief, tell them that you are doing this to safeguard them as well as yourself...that usually works with the people coming to the pharmacy when we ask for id.

Didn't just a signature work? A few years ago I made a rather large purchase at NYRF only to find my credit card was charged twice for the whole amount. I misplaced the reciept so I couldn't contact the vendor so I disputed the charge with VISA. They mailed me a copy of my signed receipt (after which time I had to go throught the whole double charge story again) but eventually I had the dupe chage refunded.

We had a problem kinda like that this year at my shop, we have two other points of sale so the girls at the other points use a knuckle buster and write down their addy and thier phone number. But one of the cards was declined and the lady would not return any of my bosses phone calls for a really long time, but we kept running the card till it cleared.
It sucks but all you can do is tell her that this is the info that you got and all sales are final not matter what....
(sorry grumpy preggers moment)
