Being that the temps across the nation are dropping into below freezing numbers, as far as the deep South, please, remember to dress in layers, leave a bit earlier in snowy areas, slow down and don't forget to check on neighbors and pets. (bring the 4 legged friends indoors)

My furnace pilot light went out the other night. I didn't know it until I walked down stairs and saw my breath. (I have a gas fireplace in my room so I never noticed the cold).

Check and/or change your furnace filters also. It will help keep the house warmer more efficiently.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled mischief mayhem and merriment.

Also, don't forget carbon monoxide poison-ing. We didn't know we had a leak until the furnace kicked on with cold weather.

(And you're right about those filters. My allergies are much better since we started changing them regularly!)

If you need to replace your furnace, consider one with a whole house humidifier. I LOVE ours! I *really* notice the difference in air quality between home and work. I can actually feel myself drying out after a couple of hours on the job...annoying, but it does beat having it go on 24/7 for the entire season.
