PLEASE create a Horde character on Twisting Nether! *begs*
My name there is "Vilmah" and I lead a guild called Sanctuary. We're the "good guys". Twisting Nether is an RP-PVP server, and we have a HUGE RP community.
http://tn.yzeens.com is where a lot of us hang out for RP and such.

Perhaps later on, that will make more sense to me...
Thanks!

Oh!! Sorry, let me explain..
In Warcraft, there are two sides:
Horde
and
Alliance
Horde races include: Trolls, Undead, Orcs, Blood Elves, and Tauren
Alliance races Include: Humans, Dwarves, Night Elves, Gnomes, and Draenai
The Horde and Alliance are in a constant state of conflict. We are not at war, BUT, we do disagree a lot, and it is not illigal on either side to kill a member of the opposite faction.
When I said join "Twisting Nether", I meant join the Twisting Nether server. There are hundreds of servers, and 3 different kinds. They are:
RP (roleplaying)
PVP (you are always available to be killed by the opposing faction)
Normal
and RP-PVP (roleplaying AND you are always available to be killed by the opposing faction)
Twisting Nether is RP-PVP. A lot of roleplaying, and the more realistic feeling of being able to kill and be killed by other players at any time (unless they are on YOUR territory).
Keep in mind, there are no good guys or bad guys in WoW. Not really, anyway. I have to say the most evil race I have seen so far are the Blood Elves we have in the Horde. They're basically the standard "elf" race that you see in most fantasy, but they have a magical addiction.
Any other questions I will be happy to answer!

Is it more fun to be the one of the bad guys than one of the good guys?
Magical addiction, huh? Sorta like Willow during that one season of Buffy? lol

You're about to step into a really big exciting world, doll.
The game is pretty easy to learn. It's specifically designed to introduce you to things slowly so you get a chance to absorb everything.
I'm Musketeer (Human Rogue) on the Executus server...if you wind up there.

The fun is what you make of it. It's just as fun to be a good guy and wail on the baddies all the time as it is to be a baddie and mess with the good guys. But...like Dona said...each side thinks of themselves as the good guys.
And like she also said...feel free to ask me anything you need help with.

Well this is roleplaying so you can RP your character to be anything you want! I personally like playing a "good guy" because there are so many bad guys out there.
And I never watched Buffy, so I dunno.. but by magical addiction I mean, these guys used to be immortal. They had a magical Sun Well that kept them immortal, but it was destroyed and now they have no easy access to the magic that kept them alive. Soooo they basically have to go out and find other sources for magic to keep them going.
Game-play wise, this makes them the best magic users in the game. They have natural mana-draining spells, (mana is the energy casters use to cast spells), they have a bunch of racial bonuses towards using magic, that sort of thing.
They are considered evil because they basically stole these crystals that the Draenai (an Alliance race from another planet) worship, and drain the energy from them for themselves. If you visit their city of Silvermoon, you will see all these elves in different places, draining energy from floating crystals. That's why Blood Elves can be paladins. They STOLE the power that the Draenai's religion gave them, and call themselves Blood Knights.

Not to dis the role-players but Kate...unless you've done a fair bit of role-playing in the past I wouldn't recommend starting out on a RP server. It can be a tad overwhelming when you're just starting.
Maybe make a character on another typre of server and see if you like it (sure you will). Then once your trial is up and you decide to stay...if you wanna' try RP you can make another character.

Oh, that's a good idea. RP is fun sometimes, but I sometimes feel silly when I am done. lol I guess there is a list of servers and how they are used when I sign up?

Yes, when you look at servers they will say RP, PVP, Normal, or RP-PVP. Maybe start out on a Normal server, just to get the hang of things.

I've only been playing for about 2 months. I started on a normal server, created a char on Twistng Nether and never looked back.
You don't have to roleplay; and there are several ways to do it. I prefer face to face, which is just what it implies.
I have an Undead Warlock named Morrigaine. I belong to a guild named Infection which is limited to undead only and is quite evil. We basically hate the Alliance and barely tolerate the other members of the Horde.
If you go Horde on TN, look for me. I'll be on most of the night tonight after Monk & Pscyh are over. I'd be happy to walk you through some of the earlier quests.
My husband also plays. He is a human pallidin :yuck: named Raklar on Hakkar realm. Its a PvP realm.

He thinks Horde are sissies and stupid and need to ambush from behind in order to win a battle. I tell him that gnomes are tasty but not very filling. Humans are too tough and are impossible to tenderize, but make nice boots.
Unfortunately, we can't afford 2 accounts so we can't play together or trade. I do have the game on both computers, so when I win lotto . . .
Here's a little something to enjoy:
