To "get" meth you have to "cook" a bunch of other ingredients together and syphon off the Meth as it develops. Three of the main ingredients are cold tablets containing ephedrine or psuedoephedrine (that's why you have to give a fingerprint to get Sudafed now) red phosphorus (think match heads) and iodine.

I don't remember needing to cook it though.

You "cook" it to make it, not use it. Although I believe it can be heated in a glass tube with a bulb at the end and you inhale the smoke. I watch way too much "Intervention" on A&E............
