::hearye:: Go Ron!

He made the announcement on C-SPAN's Washington Journal (check back here (http://www.c-span.org/homepage.asp?Cat=Series&Code=WJE&ShowVidNum=9&Rot_Cat_CD=WJ&Rot_HT=206&Rot_WD=&ShowVidDays=100&ShowVidDesc=&ArchiveDays=30), where video of the program should be posted later).

Not familiar with Paul? Here's his "about Ron" webpage (http://www.ronpaulexplore.com/html/AboutRon_fs.html). As it says, he is known among his colleagues "for his consistent voting record." He "never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution."

As The Washington Post wrote last year (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/08/AR2006070800966.html), some on Capitol Hill call him "Dr. No." He has, the Post said, voted:

Against just about anything that he sees as government overreach or that interferes with the free market. No to the Iraq war. No to a federal ban on same-sex marriage. No to a congressional gold medal for Pope John Paul II and Ronald Reagan and Rosa Parks. He says the medals are an unconstitutional use of taxpayer money and once suggested each House member instead contribute 100 bucks from his or her own pocket.

I wasn't familiar with him, until this post. Looks like I've more researching to do. Thanks, Captain!
