Seems to be early this year, eh? The latest one is just south of me (Hesperia, but I'm more to the middle of town, not at the edge), and of course, this being the desert (esp since there was so little rain) everything is nearly as dry as it is mid-summer.
Just a reminder to all of us in 52 where there is SO much dry brush...clear 10 feet from your house/property as defensible space. And make sure your neighbours do as well. I'm known to call the fire dept code enforcement to get the fields cleared out if the owners neglect to do it. Have a plan to evacuate, and test it out. Animals? Have a plan for them as well. If you have important documents in your home, such as birth certificates and wills, get a fire AND water proof safe (one that you can carry with you or one that is built in so long as you use it).
Most of us out here know what we are suppose to have in an earthquake kit, and, unlike me, I hope you have one. If not, look online at what is suggested to have in it and get one together. It works well for fire too:)
Be vigilant. You see someone that is not quite right hanging around an unpopulated area? Get a description, license number, time and date, but don't confront. Better safe than sorry. I'd rather not have the deaths of firefighters like last year because some asshole like playing with fire.
